Another Fattening Surprise

Last week our younger son dropped by with dessert for us and spoons, as if we didn’t have any. . He made pots de creme and oh, my, they were fabulous! Much better than chocolate pudding. He is a super cook and baker. His girlfriend texted me a video of a book of recipes she is making for him as part of his Christmas gifts to him. She’s calling it Couples Recipes. She has made over 150 recipes this year, many of them with our son. They are all vegetarian. Trust me when I say the ones I have had are delicious! She is a super cook and baker, too. My older son does the cooking and my daughter-in-law does the baking. Hubby and I take turns cooking. Sometimes we cook together. Who does the cooking in your house?

My daughter and I take turns these days. My daughter has turned out to be a very good cook and i seem to be a better Baker. Your desserts do look decadent. What a good idea your sons girlfriend is doing as his gift. Tried and true recipes are always a win win.

You and your daughter make a great team! That dessert of our son must have put on the Covid-19 on each of us. It was delectable! I told her not to put in any fails in the cookbook - if there were any.

I hope one of those was saved for me . Let us know when those 2 have their own cooking/baking shows ! I do the main cooking . . . Hubby is out working long hours with a commute, so there is no time during the week for him to cook. But when the weekend comes, he pulls out the fun recipes for the kids. He is actually more creative in the kitchen than I am. Oh and this year since we finally got that bbq, he is in charge of all that .

@DianneN Oh darnit! That's pretty clever that your son figured out how to do that with chocolate chip cookies ! Let me know when he starts taking cookie orders ! Hubby was pretty self sufficient as a kid - he was better at chores and house things than his older 2 sisters. Yah, I'm glad Hubby will do all the bbq-ing - and I don't want to do the clean up .

@much2say You will be the first to get the cookies and consider it a gift! We seem to be blessed in the hubby departments. Good guys, both of them!

Too late. Sorry! Don't laugh, but my son invented the best chocolate chip cookie recipe after months of trying. Crisp on the outside and moist and chewy inside. We told him to enter it in a contest. I understand why your hubby has to save his culinary skills for the weekend. At least he cooks unlike other husbands. So happy you have a BBQ. I have never touched it. That's hubby's department.. Enjoy it!

They look yummy. Do they have a crunchy top, like...(spacing the name)...that Mexican custard dessert that's so good?

They were decadent, and I don't advise anyone to have more than one per year. The sea salt gave the top a bit of crunch and lats of flavor. It's different from creme brulee.

Jay is a fairly good cook, with certain items. Myself, I don't like to cook, but do it probably 5 nights a week. The other two nights, we order out or eat leftovers.

My husband cooks simple things and the basics. I do the more complex cooking, which I love to do, although it's time consuming.

@kobesbuddy That's very sad. My husband lived with roommates and they either cooked or ate out until he met me.

Looks like you are a cooking family there. I am no good cook that is why we only have the mom/wife who does the cooking for us. Those desserts looks appetising and appealing.

Yum, that reminds me of flan, I love flan cuz I can drain the sugar sauce off and only eat the flan. Is that dessert similar to Creme Brulee?

Flame? Hummm, I didn't know that creme brulee would be served with a flame @DianneN the flan we find here is served with a caramelized sugar sauce which is far too sweet for me. The flan I've eaten is more like a custard I suppose, not really a pudding.

A tiny bit without the flamed top. I’d call it a very rich chocolate pudding.

@LindaOHio I'm sorry for you. Really. Riding around in your favorite place on Earth will be just as wonderful!!!! However, it sounds as if you have all bases covered. I've seen many in wheelchairs, etc. travel all over the world from airplanes to you name it. They always managed and you will, too.

@DianneN I have my rollator which will allow me to sit down when I need to. Also, we are thinking of renting a 7-seater van and taking out the back seat so I can bring my wheelchair. It's so frustrating not to be able to walk around in my favorite place on Earth!
