I wish her all the best. My mother-in-law has it, and my father-in-law passed away a few years ago from it.

I somehow can understand your situation as tough one. I am fortunate that I didn't have any experience that one except for my Mother in Law that was slowly going towards that. She passed away already but I had a few years that I was able to witness her slow degradation from reality. But it was cut short when she had a heart attack that shortened her life so it was just a few years that I was able to witness that. I saw her change from one mood to another and her being catatonic at times which is worrying as well.

My mom did not have dementia, but I took care of her when she was dying of lung cancer.

I am so sorry to hear this :/
I didn't have, but I have an uncle with cancer. It's very hard nowadays to find a place in a hospital, to receive his treatment and everything..
I wish you all the best. Don't give up!
