Here is a lovely book on the subject of Teddy Bears. That is, not any old teddy bears , but this book is about famous teddy bears. The full tittle of the book reads " The Teddy Bear Hall of Fame " A century of historic bears. This is a very informative book for teddy bear lovers and collectors. While reading ` The Teddy Bear Hall of Fame' we are taken back to the time when teddy bears began with the history of how the toy teddy came into being and the people who influenced the beginning of these lovely cuddly toys. We also learn about famous teddy bear makers, many of which are still going strong producing teddy bears today. From this book, the reader can learn how to identify an old teddy bear by the materials that it has been made from and the style of the bear`s features . We are also shown how to locate and identify their famous makers labels , buttons and marks which show who produced each bear. The Teddy Bear Hall of Fame is a lovely book with lots of beautiful pictures of well known teddy bears including some that have featured in various different television shows. Some of the teddies even had their own television shows and some started life as cartoon strips in national newspapers. We also learn about well known personalities who are also known to be teddy bear collectors. The humble teddy bear has been a lovely toy for young children since the start of the twentieth century. This is because most children find teddy bears to be cute and cuddly. Unlike dolls, teddies would appeal to both girls and boys. Many children found their teddy bear to be a comfort during times of upset or childhood illness. Many of these childhood teddy bears would go with their owners into adult life and stay with them for ever. Since the 1980s when a well known auction house had a very successful sale of antique teddy bears, there have been people who collect old teddy bears alongside other antiques and collectables. This has now turned teddy bear auctions into big business for the salerooms. It also lead to some of the more famous teddy bear makers producing replicas of their own original bears . These replica bears proved to be popular with teddy bear collectors and have now become collectable in their own right. This is because the original bear would cost thousands but now a collector could buy a replica for a fraction of the cost.
