I miss traveling. Especially going on cruises

I miss travelling! Living it a pretty quiet state of Australia has meant that we have been cut off from the world since the start of the pandemic. In a lot of ways, we are beyond lucky because that has meant that we have been sheltered from it and haven't had near the suffering that the rest of the world has.
I just feel so trapped sometimes and I used to use traveling out of the state as my way of reducing my stress levels, but now even the thought of travelling to other places that are available to me comes with a certain level of anxiety and stress.
I guess I get stressed about it because I have a heart condition that was triggered a few years ago by a virus that I picked up from a lady that shared it with me when we were on a shared dining table on a cruise that I went on.
I could deal with the thought of getting a cold again but the thought of getting Coronavirus scares the hell out of me, especially when so many people are against wearing masks. I know they have the right to choose in most cases but I just wish that they would stop and think how that action effects those around them.
Even if all of the precautions aren't 100 percent effective at controlling the spread isn't it worth it if it saves one person's life or even just makes one person feel more comfortable and less anxious about going around trying to live their life as best they can.
When life gets back to being more normal, what is the first thing that you would like to do?

@paddygsound20 Whem things started to kick off here we were still allowing people to come in from China and other places with no checks done on them at all. With hindsight, that shouldn't have been allowed to happen.

@jaboUK hindsight is a wonderful thing. We had the benefit of being more isolated, so I guess we could see it coming, though the Ruby Princess outbreak almost brought us undone.

Where I am, we have been extremely lucky with this virus, but that said I would wear one if things started back up again here. We are just lucky to be an island state that was able to raise the drawbridge when we needed it.

I had a cruise booked with my son we paid on for over a year and had to re-schedule. We put it off to 2022. It will be to Alaska. I think as a start, camping would be wonderful for me. I can't pitch a tent anymore but can stay in a small cabin and have my camp fires outside. I wear my masks even though it gets uncomfortable when I exert myself needing to breathe harder. I don't want to get covid again or be a carrier to someone else. I had it very bad back from Jan to March and still have issues with smell and taste. I have heart block and psoriatic arthritis so don't want it again. No telling what a second round would do to me. I hope you get to travel again soon.

I hope that your cruise is amazing.
I'm sorry to hear that you coped a dose of COVID-19. I hope that you return to health is a swift.
I find that myself, that masks make my breathing a bit more laboured though I guess it has a bit to do with the heart medication that I take.
Psoriatic arthritis, I hadn't heard of that before. I find that interesting I suffer from some psoriasis and especially since I started the heart meds have suffered from joint pain etc. I wonder if it is related at all, the inflammation that is. I must look into that when my doctor returns after the new year.

@paddygsound20 Definitely see a rheumatologist. They will determine if your joint pain is psoriatic arthritis. One can have psoriasis and no arthritis or mild and others like me can have the arthritis severely with very little psoriasis. It's very destructing so get diagnosed early and you will do so much better. I was diagnosed in 1990 after a few years of battling doctors to find out. By then, my fingers were bending. My hands and fingers are now pretty bad. Other parts of my body too.
Psoriatic arthritis is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects as many as 30% of people with psoriasis -- a common skin condition. Learn more about the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of psoriatic arthritis, as well as common flare triggers.

@noni1959 Sounds frustrating, I'm not sure if I fit the symptoms completely but I do think that I may be suffering from some kind of inflammatory issue. It is definitely something that I should look into. Thank you for your advice.

I miss traveling too. This year, my husband and I are supposed to go to Fiji, but because of the pandemic that of course never happened. I haven't been there, and my husband would like to bring me there for our anniversary. Maybe next year, hopefully we will be able to make it there.

That is a shame. Hopefully one day the opportunity will present itself.

I think in a lot of ways, everyone will try to live their lives more simply.
