I used to talk a lot about a local $5.00 buffet restaurant. And showed photos of the food. Sadly I found out today the family business is closed for good.
The building is empty and they are all without jobs. So very sad for many small businesses these days. They just cannot make it financially.
I hope they are able to find jobs elsewhere. And maybe one day they will open up somewhere else. But for now, food like above in the photo, are in the past.
It will be along time before I feel comfortable going to a buffet. But this was an entire local family that lost its business and income.
You could eat an entire meal, including drink and dessert every day for $5.00. They stayed busy. And will be greatly missed.

@CarolDM Too bad! What if the restaurant with the prices of such affordable food is closed ... what else can survive on the market if not food? Probably nothing ...

That is a shame. That reminds me of the Cici's pizza buffet. There is a cheap buffet though like the one you are describing..as far as I know they are still open, as they are a local to Virginia chain..but I haven't checked recently. I do know of a Bonanaza that closed though.

@CarolDM I just wash my hands and use hand sanitizer and wear masks except while eating. It doesn't worry me that much to go to restaurants. They need the support.

@snowy22315 The buffets are what I don't trust right now. I want to super them too but buffets are closed in this area.

That is very sad. Was it $5.00 until recently? That is pretty cheap, at least in California. I remember in the 1990s and early 200s0s there was an Indian buffet that was just under $4. Great food. They went out of business a while ago,and a barbecue place took over. The barbecue place is now moving due to rent issues. But I really like Indian buffets.I hope it will be safe to go soon. The ones I know of already had precautions. I used to go to Hometown buffet but the quality went way downhill, and they didn’t sweep the floors after people got crumbs all over.

These small businesses are almost a thing of the past, in most places. We have a hamburger joint, $5.00 for a nice burger with all the trimmings, a side order of fries and a drink of choice. They started out going great, now they're starting to limp along with the bad economy. They had one waitress on, working three jobs!

@CarolDM This couple was preparing to open another restaurant in town. COVID has just about ruined their plans.

It is a shame to see small businesses disappearing. I was just commenting to a friend recently that I hated the fact that all of the corner shops had vanished over the years.

@CarolDM business all over the world really. Even where I am we have had closures, thankfully a lot have been able to hold on due to government supplements.

That really is sad. I believe in supporting local businesses when they have great products and services. Our town has lost a couple of great ones due to Covid too.

Sad that it happened here too, a restaurant named Likelike Restaurant for 67 years stood but closed due to covid shutdown. Like your $5 buffet restaurant, family run.

Indeed, quite sad and missed. You know what I saw today? Local shop owners came together and called themselves pop up makeke. Today is the last day then they'll be closing down site. As I was window shopping, a restaurant was selling gift cards to their restaurant. Good idea!
