Maybe I am Adopted

When I was a child I never understood why people around me treated me differently. They were mean. My brothers weren’t nice to me. My memories of my mother wasn’t a pleasant one. During adulthood I realized my brother is her favorite. When he has problems my mom is always there for him. I never asked my mother a single penny yet she said I was a liability. I was thinking maybe I am adopted.
Nowadays, I don’t let any circumstances affect me in a negative way. I try to live my life the best possible way.

@meowch Thanks, I hope that eventually you can discuss it with them.
I had discussions with my parents about it.
It took me years to understand their reasoning. But like most parents, they protected the weak in our family, my brothers were not as independent nor as strong as I was.

It was unfair on the part of your parents to treat you badly in comparison to your brothers. It is ironic that in some families parents pamper their sons more than daughters.

@meowch I think now you are grown up. There is no using recalling such past (bad) memories, it might make you feel hurt.

I don't know. I don't think that is a fair assessment to make. Do you look like your parents/brother? If not, then it's possible. Sometimes parents just tend to favor one child over another.

@kaylachan no I haven’t. But I remembered joking around with my family and my brothers. They didn’t say anything.

I grew up under the same situation. I experienced some unfair treatment but I used it as a motivation to strive harder. I already have children and I see to it that I am always showing fair treatment to my children.

You have a point hardship can make you stronger. It’s the way of seeing it.

In many Indian families this difference between a boy and a girl is visible. You sure are not adopted but this boy girl attitude shows.
Glad you have risen above all that and enjoying your life.

It's okay, part of being an adult is to accept the circumstances but not dwell on it.

I have felt that way before. When I was younger my dad treated me differently. Things are different now though. Hopefully you get answers.

@meowch You can always do one of those DNA tests that shows about your family. Maybe it will show something you didn't know.

i'm sorry you were treated differently. Sometimes a parent does favor one child over another which isn't right. I hope someday you can have a serious sit down with them and find the answers you are looking for.
Best to always live as positive as possible no matter what life throws at us.

I feel sorry for you. How is your relationship with them now that you're a grown up?

My brother and I aren't talking at all. I am keeping my distance with my parents. If it's urgent or I'm really needed to help my family I'll be there.

If you still want to know, just ask your parents. But if it doesn't make any difference for you just let it be.
True sometimes parents treat their kids different. Always have favorite. But it doesn't mean you are adopted.
My second kid is a boy, he has his dad's eyes but other than that he doesn't look like me or my husband.
I have 3 kids. People say the first looks like Indian, the second looks like a Chinese, and the third looks like a western.
