Ride or Drive?

I noticed most of family in South East Asian have motorcycle or scooter. And most of women know how to ride it. But everytime I see American movies or European movies, motorcycle is uncommon unless it's a big motorcycle like Ducati or Harley Davidson. Most common vehicle in Europe and America is car. And it seems like most women know how to drive.
Me personally can ride motorcycle, I learned it 5 years ago. My husband often persuade me to learn how to drive, but I am too afraid. How if I hit someone and that person get severe wound (or death). I know it will be very useful skill since my husband often works out of city, but I just can't.
How about you, can you ride motorcycle? Or can you drive car? Or you can do both?

why do you say driving a car is more dangerous than a motorcycle or scooter? don't motorcycle or scooter drivers as well as their passengers ever get into accidents in your country?

@Cheyee the reason the majority of responders in your post are saying scooters/motorcycles are more dangerous is because the rider and passenger have no protection when they get hit or if they hit something. they will be crushed or thrown off and run over.

@hereandthere but accident always happens no matter what transportation you used.
How about bicycle? People still use bicycle even bicycle has no protection.

@Cheyee Considering the wheels it has. It is more prone to accident and there have been a lot of reports of accidents which involved it.

@Cheyee My husband drives all the time and I do not want to spend a lot of money to get my driver license. The traffic on the main road is bad here, the roads are narrow there are not many motorcycles even because right now you get frozen if you use one. There is ice on the roads here in winter... not very smart to use a motorcycle... we need a driver license also for motorcycles.

I can understand learning to drive is hard for you. I know a scooter and motorcycle are different. So, is that a scooter or motorcycle? I had cars in the States. Here I do not drive cars. I have a mobility scooter that I use for transportation.

I tried to learn how to ride a motorcycle when I was 16 but had a wreck. I was too scared to try again. I've been driving a car (and have owned cars) since I was 16. (Pretty is unusual here since she doesn't know how to drive and doesn't want to learn how to drive. She can't ride a motorcycle, either.)
Some Americans own motorcycles. Some Americans own scooters. (Scooters are more common in large cities than they are anywhere else.) Most Americans can drive a car and most own their own car. The United States is a large country with very little public transportation. If you don't own a car or know how to drive a car, most of the time you are stuck when you need to go somewhere.

@Cheyee Yes, most European countries have good public transportation.
The little public transportation we do have here most people won't use.

I do not ride a motorcycle, but here in the U.S. while riders are predominantly male, some females do ride. A lot, in fact. But yes. We make a distinction here between scooters and motorcycles. We even have a tendency to see a guy on a BMW bike and think...
That's not a damn motorcycle. lol
Harley rules the biker's world in this country, and while there are some nice ones that are not Harley's, most guys ride Harley.
