Government of India has placed a purchase order for 11 million doses of Covishield vaccine with Serum Institute of India manufacturing the vaccine jointly developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca. The process of transportation of vaccine through refrigerated vans has already begun. Government has decided to to give the dose to its 19 thousand health workers first. The detail list of mass immunisation program is already ready with government. Another good news for the country on coronavirus front is that it has daily infection count of 12482, lowest since June 13. The daily death count is also low at 166 lowest since end May. This is particularly heartening because rest of the world is suffering heavily due to second wave of the infection. Hope things start improving further as daily count of 12 thousand plus is still very high.

Let us hope so but it is still very early to know anything about the safety and efficacy of these vaccines. to add to taht this virus is constantly mutating itself to make life difficult for vaccine developers.

We already got our second batches of vaccine from China, and vaccination will start soon (not sure how soon). Our president will get injection today, and it will be live on TV since a lot of people have doubt about vaccine from China. I just hope the government won't lie to us and it's really the same vaccine, not another vaccine or another injection.

Your doubts are genuine as there is not much of transparency in matters dealing with China.

@Cheyee Yes ultimately it boils down to that. Just imagine a company getting order for millions of units. What is going to be their turnover and bottom line.

Yes they do. Our government and our medical staff is well used to mass immunisation drive. They have eradicated Polio from our country by this drive.

It's a wait and watch situation. Nobody can be sure of what is going to happen a few months from now.
