woo-hoo! that magical schtuff called moisture

I know, many folks're tired 'f snow. Others figure such's a 4-letter word which ought not be thought'f, much less spoken. Here'n these parts though, we're plum tickled that such finally came to be.
Started off Saturday morn's ice fog. Turned to sleet snow. Finally 'bout 4am-ish Sunday morn, big fluffy flakes. Glorious flakes that clung together'n defiance fer a bit. Makin' 't look to be gently fallin' miniature doilies.
The shockin' thingy 'twas the predicted winds (40-50mph) 'twas not to be. Barely a breeze 'n I marveled to how such fell straight down from the sky. A rare oddity fer any moisture here to do such.
'bout 4 1/2", which'll not e'en put a dent'n our massive moisture deficit (we're'n "severe drought"), but such a welcomed 'ccurence. Great hopes this means that more'll come's the year progresses. I've not the desire to go through 'nother prolonged drought. The last'un lasted 8 years 'n 'twas purty devastatin'.
The birds'd get spooked 't the feeders, one situated'n the pine tree near the pond. Causin' sunflower seeds to go flyin' 'cross the snow 'n the pond. When the ferals were nowhere to be seen, the birds 'd flock to gather'p those treats.
Snow, grey skies 'n birds 're a good combo when yer pic snappin' happy like myself. My feathered friends colors jest 'pop' 'gainst such a background.
're y'all makin' 't through the start 'f this year 'lright? Been busier'n a worker bee here.

I'm glad to hear your got some snow and here's hoping you'll get more this winter to stop the effects of the drought and maybe turn it around.
Right now it's been raining with the possibility of it freezing during the night. When I go out I take salt with me as I don't need to be falling.

@MarshaMusselman shall keep fingers crossed fer ya, hon.
couldn't tell ya what 'normal' 'd be here any longer. we used to get snows, e'en rain semi-regular. 'fter the 8yr severe drought, 'tis been either a gully washer (5+" 'f rain'n less'n 24hrs, then nothin') 'n blizzards. totally random. i hope y'all don't go 'nto drought, takes years to recover from such. we're still hopin' here.
yes ma'am, spelled such correctly. 'tis'n lincoln county. hope ya 'njoyed yer times there :)

@crazyhorseladycx haven't fallen this year this far and I'm hoping to keep it that way as my ankle is tender sometimes already.
Is that normal for your state to not have much moisture each year or was last year just different that way? If we don't start getting more snow that lasts into spring we may have similar conditions here. Maybe not that bad but bad enough.
I've been to NM twice in the last to climb or hike Mt. Captain. We climbed several other peaks while there in Tinnie, NM. I don't know the spelling of the city.

@crazyhorseladycx I am not a fan of red winged blackbirds. Had to argue with one every day a few years ago. It built its nest where I walked every day.

@wolfgirl569 aw, 'twas jest tryin' to protect 'ts nest. critters don't comprehend human barriers 'n 'rights'. i love the ones here. most shocked they've stayed the winter 's they usually jest pass through spring/autumn.

Having that snow would be a good sign. I hate drought conditions and that's what we live with. We had one day of good rain a few weeks back - but that's about it - although they do say it might rain this weekend. I have no idea how the rest of "winter" will play out - we've been getting warm days (up to 90) - with lots of dry wind. Well enjoy the moisture from nature and I hope it does a lot of good for all the greenery and critters - hope you can capture a lot of great pics !

sadly 'twas not 'nough snow to put a dent'n our deficit, but any 'mount 'tis welcomed 's ya well know. e'en if'n folks take to heart the climate change 'n take action, will take years to slow such. recovery'll be slow's well. i don't see't happenin' sadly. too many're focused'n how much they can take, not carin' that what happens'n one part 'ffects so many others. i so hope that yer winds calm (dang 'em, been dealin' with such here o'er a year now) 'n more precious moisture comes yer way.
didn't get a whole lot'ta pics. 's been bat poop crazy here with schtuff malfunctionin' left'n right. 'bout the time i think i've a handle'n such, i'm proven to be'n err.

@crazyhorseladycx Every year is different here, we have had quite a few years of low snow. So far this year we have only had enough to get plowed once.

oh, not so pleased with the schtuff that's kept me busy, lol. i'm learnin' plumbin'. a warnin' to ya coz i know yer washer did the same's mine, that 2 load limit 'r water leaks from 'low. seems such ruined the solenoid 'n i'd a massive flood fer 2 days whilst tryin' to get 't remedied. seems our water line shut-offs 'lso leak. the hot water'un the hubs 'fixed' a few years 'go 'pparently's been leakin' fer quite some time. i've rotted wood 'n black mold now where such's located. i curse this tiny laundry room coz such'd remained a dark secret 'til this. now, i've gotta fix the washer, get new sheet rock, plumbin' schtuff fer the wall, new foot plate, etc. the mold 'tis' prevalent 'n spread to the backside 'f the sheetrock'n the hallway. so, gonna need primer'n paint, too. ne'er endin'...
that said, 'tis good to learn new skills, eh? the moisture outdoors 'twas way more welcomed than that within :)

@crazyhorseladycx That's quite a task! Horrible to find that water has been seeping through everything for such a long time. The only good thing is that when it's all done, it will be lovely and clean and you will have a great feeling of achievement!

@crazyhorseladycx That does sound a huge task. I might have sounded a bit unsympathetic but I was remembering perhaps a few years ago when you were too ill to do anything much at all. I hope the repairs go easily although all too often they don't. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
