My Sister In Law Got her First COVID Vaccine Today

My brother called me this afternoon to let me know his wife Diane had gotten her first dose of the Moderna Vaccine. He should get his next Wednesday if his application went through. They live in Georgia where these 65 and over can get their vaccines.
Here in CT, we are going this week into the phase where 75-year-olds can get their vaccine. We will be eligible in the following phase. The good news is that our state has gotten to all the nursing homes and done the vaccines. That should cut the death rate shortly.
My brother is excited. As soon as they both get their second vaccines he wants to go eat in one of his favorite restaurants. They have not eaten indoors since last year. Of course, he will still have to wear his mask and social distance but I agree going out without the fear will be a wonderful thing.
Alain was surprised that Diane was the first person I knew who has gotten the vaccine. He was shocked but my nursing friend are mostly retired and my granddaughter had the virus and is just getting ready to go back to work. My son the nurse works from home so doesn't get exposed.

I have no plans of getting it, myself. Now or ever. However, I am happy that your family is able to get it.

That’s cool. I have to check with my doctors and immunologist to see about getting it, given that I’m positive for the antibodies right now. I know I can get it at the VA hospital because I have a respiratory disability (chronic asthma), but from what I’ve read the experts don’t know about the vaccine while testing positive for the antibodies.
At any rate, I pray the vaccine works for them, and for all of us!

@BelleStarr That's good that she has no side effects. My sister in NY had Pfizer vaccine and she has sore arms and fever for one day as side effect.

The Moderna Vaccine has been approved here too and it should be available soon. It seems to grant a longer time protection, I am waiting for it. All our stores, restaurants, bars... everything will stay closed until the end of March. I knew that I would not be able to eat out for my birthday in February.

@LadyDuck Yikes I am glad we are not in Lockdown I had quite enough of that last year. But I am glad you at least know when the Moderna vaccine will be available. There are two more coming quite soon as well so pretty soon there will be enough vaccine for everyone.

Most of them have to be booked through the state and doctors don't seem to know how their state is working at least not here. Or you could book them through VAMS.

In my country, the first doses have been going to the health workers. After that, the vaccine will go to seniors in homes. I suppose that after that I could have access to it. I´m 75 years old.

My husband missed his vaccine, he was in the hospital. So I have to call Monday, to see when he can get it. The others will get their second one on the 26th. Maybe he can get his first one then.
