New Zealand is lucky to have an abundance of fresh natural scenery that we can enoy now we are no longer locked down. The photo above was taken at Kinloch, at the northern end of Lake Taupo. We were visiting my niece and my sister is seen here watching her grandson walking down the path determined to show his independence. This wonderful walk is only a few hundred metres from my nieces home. It's very secluded and peaceful and leads from the neighbourhood street down to the lake. A wonderful feature of this walk is that, during lockdown over our winter months, someone made a lot of little 'fairy houses' and has placed them at the base of several of the trees, thus creating a Fairy Grove. The three of us had fun seeking out the fairy homes and, with all the questions a three year old could ask, we had a fun imaginative time as if lost in another world.

@valmnz My instant reaction when I read bush walking was “What about the snakes?” Then I remembered

safe from snakes here! And most other nasties. Plenty of beautiful native bird song though.

How lucky your niece lives so close to such beauty. It must have been lots of fun finding those fairy houses and enjoying it through the eyes of a 3 yr old

Such a sweet photo. Fairy homes are so much fun. My grandkids enjoyed making them in my yard, and now that they have a home outside of Manhattan, make them there, too. Never too old for fairy homes!

What a wonderful idea. We now have a Frogs' Hollow as well as Gnomesville and I'm sure it brings a lot of pleasure to many people, both children and adults alike.
