Facebook Friends Friday

Just an announcement that I am deleting my Facebook account.
Most of my family is off now and they, along with my friends, know how to reach me.
I have an Instagram account and a Twitter account which will be deleted, too.
It was an easy decision to make, but I wanted to give you a heads up.
And the decision is all mine. I wasn’t blocked for life.

I’ve deleted my app from my phone and I don’t spend much time over there anymore. I even stopped posting a song a day. I don’t need the toxicity and the drama of people literally hating their own family members because of who they did or didn’t vote for.

That depends on where the other party lives, if they're overseas then it really is the cheapest way @Aquitaine24 A lot of my veteran friends with kids in the military use it for that reason.

@DianneN I have accounts on all these social networks but I don’t remember when I was active..
Especially on fb, he became impossibly boring to me.. I hear that more and more people are deleting their accounts, but realistically, what can be read smartly there, only someone can annoy you ..

@DianneN I didn't even think of friends, but of various groups, friends of my friends, it all pops up on the Home Page and then I read all sorts of nonsense.

I noticed a lot of people were doing that! Although I don't post there, I still lurk . . . I'm keeping mine so I can continue to snoop around
. It has been helpful though in seeing friends' behaviors during this pandemic - I can't believe the photos I see. And then of course the political divide - can't stand the hate. I might delete one day, but just not yet. I know I can find you here
.

@DianneN You are fortunate! I'd have to say most are like minded, but politically speaking maybe about 25% of them still support the ol' banned one
. I take no part in politics on FB, but I will still read about all sides. Any particular reason why you are leaving it?

@much2say Mostly because my DIL is not on it. She’s on Snapchat. I get emails when she posts things about the kids. Otherwise, I am fed up with all the shares after shares, babies, birthday notifications, all the holiday greetings from everyone, recipes, travel, etc. which are getting old and boring. If I devoted my time, I would be there all day and night. I could remove 500 followers and still be there for hours. I’m done and just don’t care anymore. ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

I would call that a wise and insightful decision. They bring a lot of unnecessary things in life. I am on FB and Twitter. But I hardly visit there. I keep them because some of blogging challenges in India need you to log in through your social media platforms.

@lazydaizee Facebook is sneaky that way. Another reason to stay off.

@DianneN I suppose it is a good way to stay in touch with people, but it can get too big and impersonal. I know somebody who gets friends requests from people he does not even know.

I personally think Facebook is fine as long as you don’t use your phone for it.Just use a computer. You don’t need phone alerts of someone liking something. You can read it like you read anything else on a computer.
