If You Haven’t Seen Snow

If you have never seen snow, well here it is! There is snow in the mountains of New York. My son and his girlfriend rented an Airbnb in the Catskills for our long holiday weekend for a little getaway. He sent me a video of them snow tubing and I took a screenshot. I only heard laughing in the video. They plan on snowshoeing, snowmobiling, skiing, and hiking, too. I prefer watching them in the snow rather than myself. At least it’s not a bitter cold weekend.

@DianneN I like the four seasons and I would never live in the tropics, but a moderate winter as we had in Monte Carlo was the perfect weather for me.

I am glad they had fun in the snow. Snow is beautiful but the cold is so awful that I only stand it for some minutes.

I just don’t like snow, but dress warmly when we walk. They had so much fun. This morning, I woke up to photos of the place they are staying in. Gorgeous!

when I was a kid we used to go to Wisconsin. I would be outside from the minute we got there until we went home, Sledding, tubing and building a ramp. The ramp was disassembled by my dad

I took my son snowtubing once in West Virginia. I found it mildly terrifying. I was dragging my foot the whole time to slow myself down...lol. Also, my gloves got wet, and my hand became painfully cold. Ahh, the joys of snow!! l

@DianneN Wow, no snow there since mid-Dec? You lucked out! Do they say it's coming? Here it's supposed to cool down and possibly rain next weekend - but you know, we won't know til we get there. We were almost at 90 these past couple days!

@much2say 90 is really too hot! Let’s hope the rains will come and bring relief. Snow. It will surely arrive. When, I don’t know. When the pandemic is long gone, you can head to the mountains for some snow and we will head to Florida.

They are having a wonderful time. Here, it was a bright and sunny day and in the mid 40s. A heatwave for this time of year. No snow since Dec.17th. It must be beautiful in your neck of the woods right now.

You said your holiday weekend so did you get to go too but prefer not being in the actual outdoors? That is a lot of snow. We still have about five inches on the passenger side of our cars in the driveway the rest the sun melted mostly.

@DianneN we have more leftover snow than that but I think it is frozen too. I've not figured out yet what I'll do with the trash and recyclables on mind since I also have a dental appt first thing.

They went, not us. It snowed another 9 inches overnight while they were there. We have no snow except for a pile at the end of our driveway leftover from the snowplow on December 13th. It’s frozen like a rock!

I have never done snow tubing, but it certainly is lots of fun:) I don't do good playing in snow, I've been snowshoeing once. Outdoor sports during the winter/me, don't mix

I prefer not to do any winter sports, but may try skiing again if we go back to our son’s place in Vermont. Must dress extra warm up there.

@DianneN I tried downhill skiing once and couldn't stand up! Denise my friend was with me, while her brother Mike (intermediate skier) was using a more advanced slope. The highlight of my day? Inside the warming cabin next to the fireplace, sipping a cup of hot chocolate!

Nice to see the snow at least in the picture. We are not blessed or otherwise to get snow in our area but witnessed the falling snow before traveling to Kashmir before. It is a great sight.
