I've Had The Vaccine

I had the covid vaccine a couple of days ago and the only ill effect I experienced was a slightly sore arm. Even that has gone now.
I haven't sprouted horns or turned into a monster (as yet) which probably surprises some of you. I'll keep you posted if I develop any side-effects.
I was impressed with the vaccination process, it was very well organised. We'd all been given a time but they did us in the order in which we arrived.
It was held in a sports hall and at all times we were suitably distanced. Chairs were sanitised before and after use, as were any other exposed surfaces.
The jab only took a minute, and then we moved to a waiting area and were given a timer (which was also sanitised). Each person's went off after 15 minutes and then we could go home.
And that was it, job done.

Good job. My husband is now a week out from after having his second round. The second one made him more tired but he pushed through it and is now more then fine. Although we do make some silly jokes that I can now track him without his cell phone.

Yes the 2nd dose is also important though the UK government is trying with 1st dose for many even if that means the second one is delayed.
However many medical experts have questioned this strategy.

@jaboUK two weeks he went in for his first had an appointment set for the second one. What a lot of people are forgetting is most of the vaccines right now had a second oen which is a booster so they have to make sure those that got 1 already also has a second one. We are currently having group B a lot of group A already has both sets but there are still a few that haven’t.

@jaboUK I really wonder what there is to be scared of. The Oxford vaccine - which I assume is the one you have been given - does not even use a live culture, so you cannot possibly be infected with Covid-19 just by being given the jab.

@jstory07 Not yet. We have preference order
1. Health care professionals
2. Armed force personnel and police force
3. Senior citizens 50 plus folks and others with co-morbidities
4. Rest of the population
I guess it will be April by the time we get it.

@jabouk My father has had both doses now as has everyone in his care home, with no ill effects. Just a pity it hasn’t helped him to dial the correct number when he tries to phone me. He says he always gets someone, but it’s rarely me, but he chats away with them anyway and I dread to think what all he’s telling them.

@snowy22315 I didn't discuss it either, the doctor rang me to tell me where the vaccine was being administered and gave me an appointment. If I hadn't wanted it I would have been able to decline.

That is an encouraging piece of news as something unknown always puts a fear in people.

Sounds very much like the process here, I am so glad you got yours. We still have to wait but if we are eligible we have appointments for February 16.

@hostessman That's good Bobby. Our second dose is being delayed as they think it's more important to get twice as many people done with the first dose.

@crazyhorseladycx I've read that too - there needs to be at least a 70% take-up of the vaccinations in order for it to be effective.

@jaboUK that's fer certain. lots 'f 'em here'n the u.s., dunno 'bout 'broad. i've read/heard that if'n 't least 70% 'f folks get such, that'd give 'herd immunity'. how true'd that be? search me.

Great! Glad it all went smoothly and you feel fine.
There is a big vaccination effort going on in the village here. Lots of volunteers helping to guide people and deal with parking/drop-offs etc. The first weekend they got through 1,000 people. Now they have done almost all over-80s and have moved onto the next group.
I did volunteer as a driver if people needed transport, but haven't been called up yet.

@jaboUK That’s right because until now we do not really know the full characteristic of the virus.
