I have been writing about my cousin with COVID for weeks now. Got the news last night there is nothing more the doctors can do for her.
Her options were a ventilator or Hospice. She chose Hospice.
She has the right to choose. I respect that. Pneumonia in both lungs. Heart damage. Kidney failure. ARD (Acute Respiratory Distress). And many more issues. I suppose I would have made the same choice.
500 miles away from her. Same hospital and hospice my Dad was when he passed away.
Her husband held the phone to her ear and I said my good-byes. I hope she could hear me.
The doctor said her time is near. Maybe 24 hours.

Kidney failure and heart damage alone, is enough to bring the end. This is hard on you, I already know

@kobesbuddy He sounds so lost. She has three little dogs waiting for her at home. They lost their only child a few years ago.

I am sorry that your cousin's doctors no longer feel that they can do anything more for her.
She fought a good fight, and it must be somewhat of a comfort to know that she will soon be called home to suffer no more.
Damned this virus, we should all remember this poor lady's battle and make it a point to wash our hands, keep our distance, wear our masks and count our blessings.

Sorry it had to come to this, but it didn't sound good. My friend that I have talked about on here is now in the nursing home. He has been asking the woman he was living with to come back home, but there is no way she can care for him.

It is good she got to make her own choice sad though it is.
Hugs and hugs for her as well.

@DocAndersen Yes I do remember. It takes a special kind of person to have that job. Thank her for what she is doing.
