airlines give away?
do you use them? keep them? give them away?
when i was young, i was happy to receive them as "gifts."
same with the hotel stuff like small sizes of lotion, shampoo, soap, shower cap, and sewing kit. what do you do with them?
but i don't think i got to use them all except for the socks during the cold months.
i remember keeping the sewing kit in my bag but never got to use it, either.

@LadyDuck i guess it varies if you're in economy, business, first class, and varies by airlines, too.

@hereandthere I used those that I knew were brands that never gave me problems. I gave the others to my niece.

I cannot relate as I have not tried traveling. If that happens I will keep giveaways as souvenirs.

@hereandthere It was long time ago, two years we booked two suite rooms so we can celebrate after the company's Christmas party. No souvenirs to grab. But the condo wanted us to pay for missing towels.

i think that's what most people do, use what you can, give what you can't/won't

maybe it depends on how long the flight is.

do you notice any similarities or differences between airlines in what they give?

@JudyEv the socks don't have ankles and eventually slip down if you walk in them

@hereandthere the items sometimes differ but I can't remember in what way. The socks are always a bit funny although okay for wearing in the plane. We got sewing kits too on one voyage.

some blogs/articles suggested using the shampoo as detergent and the lotion for shaving

I just keep those as a remembrance. I seldom travel before and most of the time, I don't have enough fund to buy a lot of things. But if ever I will start traveling when things go back to normal, I would probably get some things from the place as a remembrance aside from the picture.

@hereandthere I hate flying but the planes I've been on haven't provided anything like that before. Hotels though, I do grab the slippers and shower cap. Not so much the soaps and shampoos though as I prefer the brands I use.

I put the little hotel soaps etc in my travel bag if I don't use them. Have never gotten socks, then again I don't fly.

I haven't flown that much and when I did I don't recall anything that they gave to us. Interesting.
I used the shampoo at the hotel so I wouldn't have to pack any. I don't recall ever seeing a sewing kit but that makes sense to have one in the room in case you need it. I always keep one and an eye glass repair kit in our car. I think I bought them from the dollar store years ago.
