Out the window this morning

The kangaroos were back at the house this morning. The first three photos were taken through the French doors of our bedroom. One shows the doe scratching an itch with her hind claw. You can also see them holding some dried grass as they eat. It’s moments like these I’m glad the little garden bed isn’t full of plants! Unfortunately, I had to take these photos through the flyscreen.
The last photo shows the doe after she moved on to have a drink from the birdbath. It’s good she got her drink before the bees moved in. It’s Australia Day here and we’re going in to Donnybrook for a free brunch and citizenship ceremony later this morning. It’s barely 8.00am here.

@kobesbuddy Good for you. I worry when occasionally we hear a shotgun and worry that 'our' kangaroos are being hunted.

@JudyEv The deer in our yard, it's the same way. I chases a fawn out of the road, a truck was coming fast! The man thought I was crazy, I wouldn't allow him to hit that baby!

Sounds like fun. Glad you were able to get what you needed. Also it's nice you were able to capture those photos, because catching animals can be hard.

@LadyDuck When Vince has an itchy back, he backs up against a door frame and scratches it that way. He also has a long-handled shoe-horn that he uses to scratch his back and a long bamboo back-scratcher with little 'fingers' on the end. So he doesn't need to use his big toe!!

@JudyEv quite the same - love that! they are the same for you. Lately, and I have been looking, I have not seen any kangaroos out of my windows.

What is a citizenship ceremony, is it like we have here people swearing allegiance to Australia and gaining citizenship?

@BelleStarr Pavlova and lamingtons are supposed to be Australian icons. I asked about Vegemite but she wasn't sure if there would be any Vegemite.

@TheHorse There are a few that virtually ignore us now unless you walk straight towards them. We could probably feed them and tame them but in a way there doesn't seem much point. It might put them at more danger in other places and you don't want the bucks getting 'tame'.

@JudyEv - What a cool picture. It still amazes me that you can just look out your window and see amazing creatures like these kangaroos!
