Poor Things

I snapped this photo a little while ago. The poor deer have to eat, too, and we didn’t chase them away. A huge snowstorm is heading our way, and this may be their last meal in a long, long time. We don’t like to feed them or else we’d have them here all the time. So just this once we let them have their fill. They will certainly be back when my spring flowers bloom.

Animals always seem to have a sith sense of what mother nature will do, even before we do.@DianneN

Aww. Poor deer. Hope they can find a safe place to hibernate and ride the storm.

I hope so, too. I saw another one eying our neighbor’s barn. Hmmm

@DianneN Nature is so difficult to work out and messes with our hearts too much. It's like my wife and cats - she can't help commandeering every cat that wanders into our garden but in the long run regrets it.

@DianneN Oh yes, but she still adopts them all, especially on holiday.

That's a nice picture. I'm sure they'll be safe during the storm. I hope you find a way to save your flowers.

They must be somewhere cuddled up in the woods now. You’d love it here right now. All the snow you ever dreamed of.

@just4him I prefer a sunny Monday and start to the week. Unfortunately, we are having a white out right now. Poor you. Too bad you can’t be here with me.

@DianneN And you'd love to be here. Only three inches on the ground. Not snowing and the sun shining. I'm misplaced when it comes to snow.

Oops. Missed this comment. I subsequently read that they fatten up now and grow a woolen coat for warmth.

@DianneN Horses grow 'summer' and 'winter' coats too. I guess many animals do.

@DianneN Sometimes they come into our yard . They do come into our driveway and go back into the woods on the other side of our place

That was very kind of you to let them have their fill. I'm sad though that this might be their last meal for a long, long time. Would have been nice if they were like polar bears who simply hibernated and not feel the hunger pangs.

It would be nice to see wild animals directly in their habitat. I wonder if you can see wild animals there? Like bears and others.

@DianneN Beautiful photo.. Why isn't there an animal protection association or something that takes care of the animals during the winter? Here it is, food is left in the feeders twice a week deep in the forest..

@DianneN Animals would get used to it and feed it on a feeder, they wouldn't destroy plants in backyards ... I know it sounds strange to you, but I would like to see a deer in my yard.
