In your opinion, does taste in music influence personality, or does personality type influence a person's taste in music?
There are several research results on the relationship between a person's personality and the type of music he likes that have been published. example:
~`Heavy Metal Fans: low self-esteem, gentle, creative
~`Classic fans: smart (smart), high self-esteem, introverted, and calm
~`Hip-hop fans: mostly extroverts;
~`Pop fans: hardworking, friendly, low self-esteem, gentle;
~`Rock fans: easygoing, selfish, gentle
~`Folk, Jazz and Blues fans: thinker (deep thinker), high self-esteem, creative;
~`Rap fans: high self-esteem and friendly atmosphere;
~`Reggae fans: high self-esteem, creative, gentle, calm.
Etc...
Do you agree with the research results above? Is it true that there is a relationship between a person's personality type and the type of music someone likes?
Please ask yourself. What kind of music do you really like, then check your personality type. Are you suitable?

I like classic and light music most. But then I don't mind any other kind unless it's too loud and something senseless to me. I love a variety of music.

I don't think so. Music is just a relaxing therapy for a good mood.

As i know, someone who likes any song is a sign that the person is submissive. does it suit you?

@itsmesheima Really submissive? I kinda don't like the word submissive for me it has a negative impression especially when it comes to relationships but I think I'm more obedient. Are they the same?

In my opinion listening to a nice song that is soft and gentle makes me want to do good deeds for another person.

I usually listen to various type of music depending on my mood. A friend told me the type of music one listens to says a lot about the person's emotions, or how I currently feel. Which is why at random, she askes me for a song that I want to hear, and she'd guess I am, depending on the song that I chose. *lol*

But it is real and true in my opinion. The song that is being liked usually describes the feelings at that time

I think that it's more likely that one's personality type influences one's preferred choice of music though probably the style of music one was exposed to when growing up is much more important.
I'd strongly disagree with the 'low/high self esteem' classifications - I don't believe that self confidence or lack of it has much bearing, if any, on one's preferred musical genre and I don't like the word 'smart' at all! Both of those tell me immediately that the person who wrote that list was an amateur with no real knowledge of psychology or personality studies.

@MALUSE "Arrogant" would probably be more accurate than "insolent" (though neither would have suggested itself to me, I think). Arrogance is a quality which involves nobody but the person it describes; insolence always involves another person (the person being insulted).

It seems like it kind of fits. Your chart doesn't include country. There alot of country fans around who aren't really into the other types, and also many people are fans of different genres.

@itsmesheima Not offended, just with other descriptions that don't fit. Maybe some other description would be more appropriate. I don't see corellation with hardworking and selfish or be gently. You can or not be gentle but still be or not be hardworking.
