How's your Friday going? It's 1130pm here in Minneapolis, I have 3 hours left of my work day (my new hours are until 0230 on Fridays and Saturdays, which I am still getting used to - not easy staying up so late!) I decided near the end of January that I was going to try out a low carb diet for a month or two and see how it goes. I'm not calling it keto, atkins or anything else - more like following a "lazy keto" diet. Counting carbs, and working my way into ketosis. The trickiest part is that I am a vegetarian of about 18 years and
Lately I have been restricting calories but been FAMISHED - extremely hungry - and I am tired of it. I had been reading online about low carb diets, and how benefits can include: FEELING FULL!, added energy, reduced inflammation, mental clarity, and so forth. I also really need to shed some weight. I've gained from quitting smoking and it hasn't shed itself. And I've been so dang hungry!
I will say, I am on day 5 of keeping under 30-40 net carbs. (For those of you doing hard core, below 20 net carbs, hats off to you - but I need those extra carbs for veggies!)
DAY 1 & 2 - I was extremely tired. Day 2 I felt extremely nauseous for a while, but it eventually passed. Also feeling hungry and craving sugar. Day 2's fatigue and nausea could be attributed to getting the 1st Moderna vaccine too, I'm not sure.
DAY 3 - getting used to it. Got pretty sick of cheese, which I never thought I would say. I have a couple of SlimFast keto snacks, but they are not very good.
DAY 4 & 5 - discovered tofu was low carb! Nom. On day 5 - today - feeling energetic and full. Haven't checked any differences in weight, but I did notice that my pee made it to ketosis level - somewhere between .5-1.5.
I am still very new at this, but I am going to try it until the end of February likely, possibly into March. My main staples in this diet as of right now are: spinach, cheese (for snack), eggs, low carb veggie burgers, and tofu.
I know a few others are on the low carb train. Can you advise how it's going for you, what you like and dislike about it - and any advice? Thanks in advance!

Good! I am not real famliiar with the Paleo diet, but I believe this is a lot of meat, right? I am excited and interested in trying this because it's something new and different. I used to eat 2 packets of oatmeal every morning - and now I am eating fewer carbs throughout the whole day than what was in those oatmeals in the morning. LOL. It's crazy.
Am I mistaken, or were you not doing something very similar to Whole 30?

I wish you the best of luck. I'm a total failure with diets unless it's the seefood diet, I don't lose anything but I'm full when I wanna be.

I did Atkins for years but this is a hard diet without meat. Good luck and I hope it works for you.

Day #2 could have also been the "keto flu" which happens when you go on a super low carb diet. Although it could have been the vaccine too.
Walmart has their own version of the Keto fat bombs which are SO much better tasting. Well, at least the "fat bomb" kind.
