New here, a little introduction about me.

I am a senior lady, living in the southern United States. I enjoy the mild winters here compared to northern Idaho, where I grew up. I have shoveled all the snow that I ever want to have to shovel in this lifetime !
I love horses, and have ridden most of my life , ever since my first childhood pony ; however, I am 76 years old now, and live in town, so no more horses in my life.
I still enjoy yard work and gardening, and in the cold weather, then it is reading books and maybe knitting socks or crocheting something.
I am looking for a friendly place to have conversations, and make new online friends, and being able to earn a little extra money as I make friends is the icing on the cake.

What a fine gentleman you are. ! thank you for the welcome.
Unfortunately, it is quite cold, even inside the house, and so I am not giving my coat up at all, and people will just have to put up with my “bundled up” look for the time being.
Of course, if you have a nice fire going somewhere here, then most certainly, you may take my coat......

Ah-haa ! Now I know why you wanted to take my coat ! It was not just being gentlemanly, it was because it looks warm and you are freezing , too.

I see that you are from the UK. By chance have you ever read the book “ Talking With Horses”, by Henry Blake ? He did interesting experiments in the mental communication between horses, and with people, back around the 1940’s.
It is one of the most interesting books that I have ever read.

I remember, years ago, my mother-in-law (who has long-since passed away) told me that inside the body of every 75 year old woman, beats the heart of a 17 year old girl.
Now that I am there, I can see that she was right. The old body won’t do what it used to, but in my mind and my heart, I am still that same younger person .
Your grandmother probably felt that way, too.

Welcome aboard from one quite senior to another
I am looking for a friendly place to have conversations, and make new online friends, and being able to earn a little extra money as I make friends is the icing on the cake. Then you are in exactly the right place!
I have been away for just over a year and returned this week- It feels just like coming home as so many friends from the past are here.
Have fun and I look forward to reading you more

Welcome! I see you enjoy the mild winters but the bigger question is how do you like the oppressive bug infested summers? Only kidding, 'round here we tease and pick and fight and make up and support each other regardless.
Cheers

I seriously do NOT like all of the bugs that we have in the summer ! There are a lot more bugs here that in the north country, and different kinds of them, too.
My favorite bug has to be the firefly, and I love seeing them at night, lighting up the sky as they fly around. My most unfavorite bug is the cicada, which is a very large flying insect, with huge eyes, and it makes noise all night long for the whole summer.
The other bugs, like spiders, fleas, and cockroaches are definitely a nuisance, but sometimes we do get enough cold days in the winter to kill off most of them.

@Happyflowerlady I love fireflies too and dragonflies. One of my most dreaded are those dang love bugs. Those things are just nasty when you drive into swarm of them. The cicadas can so loud they drown everything out although we don't have them so bad where I am but I have had the privilege of being serenaded to the point of needing ear plugs.

I love to read, and like to be outside, but don't get much yard work accomplished. I think I have mowed my way halfway around the world in my lifetime, and I don't want to anymore. I have only been in here a few months, still feeling my way, although I must admit that I am not here some days, it's rather hit and miss. I did receive a nice welcome when I joined here, I hope you like it here, too.
