Friday morning walk

My older daughter probably sensed that I'm already very bored with our stay here that she asked me this morning that we go for a walk at the nearby hill. I hurriedly changed to my walking outfit and off we went at about 7AM. The morning breeze was still cold. We finished our walk (including the uphill steep climb) in 54.12 minutes for the 4.02KM distance.

That's a nice walk. I hope you enjoyed visiting with her on the walk. How long are you staying with her?

@sunrisefan OH! I did know you got stuck there. I don't know what I was thinking. Sorry about that. Oh, my, that still doesn't sound good. I hope you figure out something so it isn't so expensive or such a long wait. What will happen if your visa expires and you're still there?

@DaddyEvil When our interim visa expires, we should leave NZ before that date. I'm leaving everything up to my older who has been the one purchasing our plane tickets when we come. I would love to go home though because I'm worried about our house and car. Nobody is staying in the house as it's only my wife and I who live there because our two daughters are here in NZ. The older one is now a citizen and the younger one is a permanent resident and applying for citizenship.

We've been staying with our two daughters here in NZ for exactly 11 months today. We here supposed to be here for only 3 months but we got stuck because of the pandemic. Our interim visa will expire exactly a month from today and we're still weighing our options as there's only a single trip back home in March and the plane fare has been very expensive. Added to that is the cost of 7 days quarantine in a hotel in Manila and another 14 when we finally reach our home city (some say this could be reduced to 7, if the local government unit permits, and the balance of 7 days to be done at home).

Yes indeed and more so that I've been used to doing 10 rounds of brisk walking around the track of the sports stadium 4 times a week back home.

It's a nice walk, 4 km in 54 minutes on a steep road is pretty good.

@sunrisefan I often walk to the Post Office in the center of our village and I know that the round trip is a little more than 3 Km and it takes 40 minutes. Happy Chinese New Year, I am going to prepare a Chinese dinner tonight.

@LadyDuck Thanks for the Chinese New Year greetings. That 3KM walk to the post office and back is indeed good exercise. I remember my college days when I used to walk to the university from where I boarded which was quite far. Many years later, with the advent of motorcabs, students would simply ride even for a very short distance of going from one corner of the city block to the other. More often, progress makes people sedentary and lazy.

Thanks Ms. Anna. The time is a bit longer than the time I do a 10 round walk at the oval track back home which is between 46 to 48 minutes. 10 rounds is equivalent to a little over 4KM because I do the walk from the inner to the outer circle. The inner circle is 400M. Hope you’re enjoying your Chinese dinner. At this minute, mass is being celebrated in our parish back home for the Chinese new year celebration.

Hehehe! Yes, I was somehow relieved . I followed it up in the late afternoon by walking alone going to church and also going after on another longer route dropping by the supermarket. On reaching home, dinner of burger was waiting.

Yes and we had a great view of the surroundings and air was fresh. Would have been great if I could say “ the surrounding land as far as my eyes can see is mine” hahaha!
