I like being surrounded by lots of greenery inside my house , however the major requirement is that plants require at least an hour or two of sunlight and fresh air to thrive ...so , after many experiments, finallyb have picked a spot in my hall/sitting room near the window and all the plants seem to be doing well , and they have been here for almost a year now. please share your experiences with indoor gardening

We only have small indoor plants. Our house is not that spacious to accommodate big ones.

Size doesn't matter because even a single plant has the capacity to enhance your interiors.

@kiran8 Indeed. Small or big indoor plants can beautify the house.

@Shavkat In Rajasthan there is scarcity of water and in some villages ladies carry pots on their head and walk several kilometres each day to fetch water. I visited a house where they had two small pots one of Tulsi and another money plant. The water used for washing rice and vegetables was what made those plants grow healthy and lush ..

We have cats who would eat the plants if we tried. Rather than take the risk, plants stay outside.

Your plants do look like they are doing well in that area. Congratulations! I've always kept indoor plants. A year ago last November my daughter and I moved from the house we'd lived in for over 22 years and of course had to move my plants as well. In the other house the plants were in a room with large East facing windows. They got sunlight from dawn until early afternoon and did very well there. In this house, we have East facing windows, but one is over my kitchen sink and the other is in the door on our back porch. So not so much light as before. We grouped the largest plants where they would get the light from the window over the sink and some of the smaller plants are on my clothes dryer on the back porch. I figured I'd lose part of them from lack of sunshine. So far, all of them are still doing very well. I'm happy with them.

Thanks a lot for all the details , I am sure it would help me with regard to placing of my plants and I too wouldn't want leave behind any of my plants if we have to move .. we have many large fruit trees in our garden so there is very limited sunlight and it is a problem growing flowering plants , even hibiscus which grows easily and abundantly here .I have had to place jasmine , cactus and other plants on tne terrace .

@DaddyEvil Here I need to move some plants to my garage or somewhere safe during monsoons , the delicate plants are unable to stand the force of water . .I have lost many plants because I was a little late in shifting them. Monsoon rains come on time , to the day, each year. .

@kiran8 I don't have many flowering plants. Most of mine are smaller trees and things like taro, which is considered a houseplant here. (I was video talking with a friend from India last year and walking around my house so he could see what was here when I walked into my kitchen. He stopped me and ask if we had gone outside. When I told him no he asked why my garden was growing in my kitchen. I couldn't stop laughing.) I like to grow plants outside that aren't supposed to be able to grow where I live. I pamper and baby them during our Winter season as we get lots of ice and snow here. I do sometimes lose a plant but most of them survived for years.

I have a terrace garden. And few plants in my balconies downstairs that too get enough sunlight every day. Nothing really indoors. Though the ones in my balcony give a good view to our living hall and my workplace is there in balcony
