Feeling like switching it all up....... Have you ever felt like this?

Have you ever got the feeling like you just needed a change? Wanted to switch things up a bit and do something different? Normally when I feel this way I would go get a hair cut and try my hardest to avoid the infamous boredom bangs. If things are feeling really froggy maybe I would get a tattoo ( I have more than a few ). This time its a bigger itch than that. The kind that a new haircut or even a new tattoo can’t scratch. Have you ever felt this way? Two years ago we moved into a 2500sqft house and have been living the so called American Dream ever since. Funny it has never quite felt like our American Dream. Always bearing the brunt of the stresses of keeping everything afloat. Going to work everyday all day only to pay your bills and maybe take that vacation once a year with your family. The more and more I’ve thought about it over this last year it has become more and more clear to me that working to live isn’t my dream at all. Obviously everyone has to work and I understand that but do I need the big huge house and the Harley and sports car. What are the things that are really important to me? We have been thinking about going full time and traveling in a 5th wheel for a year with our family. With the pandemic having shaken up how everything is being done we have been given the freedom to finally make some big changes in our life and truly start living OUR American Dream!! We want to travel and show our children what they might have read about in their history book at school or depending on how things go from a computer screen. We want to get rid of all of our possessions that are weighing us down and start living a minimalist lifestyle and traveling the United States. Getting out there and seeing what this beautiful country has to offer. Are we crazy? Have you ever felt like this if so what did you do? Could you live in a 5th wheel for a year and live a minimalist lifestyle?

I dreamt of doing that back when I was in my 20s but it takes money to do it so I worked instead. Oh well, at least I had food on the table, a roof over my head, a car and clothes and shoes to wear. I'm not complainin.

Dreams change as we age @openrangethoughts I've become happy now that I can have critters to share my life with, something I wasn't allowed to have when I was renting apartments and the travel bug is no longer my dream.

The axiom I lived with for many years is not to leave this earth “wishing”. I have owned 2 RV’s and a school bus that I revamped into an RV and traveled for a time just going from state to state. When I needed money, I’d work for a restaurant for however much time I thought appropriate and moved on. Heck, I even joined a couple of carnivals whilst on the road and at one stop I even cooked for some ladies of ill repute at a “cat house” in Nevada. The bottom line is that in all of my years of life, there are few things that I wish I didn’t do and even fewer things I wish I could do. My next venture is to compete in the 2024 seniors amateur clean bodybuilding competition in my state and then go national and maybe, just maybe get a couple of sponsors and go International. it’s like the kid in some movie said; “It could happen” and if I have anything to say about it, it will.

I love this and it sounds like with your travels you have some pretty awesome stories to share. I definitely don’t want to leave this earth wishing either. I love your perspective on life and can’t wait to read about your next challenge. Keep us updated on the clean body competition.

I don't think I could, I rely on technology far to much. If you want to do so, go for it. More power to you.

We will have WiFi and our regular devices as well as our phones and laptops I agree we couldn’t leave our technology behind. Just the larger possessions like the house and cars and bikes and atv’s only what we really use and need daily

No you are not crazy, many people feel like this once they have got what they wanted. Sometimes these things sound better than they actually turn out to be. Like you say, a big house is expensive and needs a lot of time and money spent on looking after it. So it is not as much fun as you thought it would be. Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do in the future.

There is nothing wrong with being a minimalist what is important is peace of mind. The pandemic is giving us a lesson that if things turn upside down the material things are of no importance at all but only the basic necessities.

@openrangethoughts change is inevitable and many a times we feel we need to do things differently, change our environment, change our looks and so forth. Yes it's something I do experience sometimes

I think it's a wonderful idea to live out your dreams, but it requires careful planning in order to do it successfully. Make your plans, figure out a realistic budget and prepare, prepare, and prepare. Also, be sure everyone is on the same page with this dream. Nothing is better, though, than actually living out the dream.
