Funny: Are you brave?!?

This morning, I asked my 10-year-old boy student if he is brave. He said yes boldly. Of course, I asked him a series of why. Me: Are you a brave boy? Student: Yes, I am. Me: Why? Student: Because I am not afraid of tigers. Me: Why? Student: Because...#*@ Me: Because the tigers are in the cage. I cannot wait for him to say his answer. So I put the idea in his mind in completing his sentence. Besides the point, he cannot fight the tigers if they are out of the cage. Are you brave like him? Is it fine to tell a kid the realistic situation than having a fantasy? Image Credit: thumbs.dreamstime.com

I agree. It is best to make things real for them to ponder.

@rakski Sometimes we cannot bend the culture. They were not being taught the right manners.

First, tigers are big cats. Am not a meow person. I prefer the arf. Second, if it's a lesson on courage, all answers could be deemed correct whether it is realistic of not. 'The Lion King' is an animation but it teaches courage to viewers big and small.

I agree. He seemed to be courageous to fight the tiger despite being dangerous in the open.

The answer is very reasonable, once the cage was open due to a collapsed fence. People were running to save themselves.

I agree. But this boy claimed that he is going to fight the tiger even if it is out of the cage.

@Shavkat If the tiger put the boy head in their mouth would he still be able to fight back?

If the kid is old enough to understand what you mean, it does not seem the case here.

I think he did get the message with my explanation. If not, he will still keep on asking me questions.

It's always good to tell them facts rather than fiction stories. You handled it well. Have a good day!

There are also possibility the cage is broken. The tiger can leap from the cage. It is in the cage but there's no proof it's being lock or the door is close...

I think it depends on the kid. It's good to be open and honest with them, but also be mindful. Ensure they understand perfectly.

I am sure he did. I am saying it humbly. For this reason that I try my best to translate the statements in his native tongue.

i am never brave, because it will let me take the deadly price. If i am brave to speak the truth,to fight against the tyrant,to wake up those people who are brainwashed by the nazi,i won't speak here.i will be put into the jail and my families will live in the political persecution.Bravery is not an easy thing,it's easy to say but hard to do

I hope you can voice out your thoughts freely depsite being in your country. I heard that it is difficult to say the real truth there especially if related to your government system there.

It's easy to be brave when wild animals are in cages.

Perhaps he was thinking that way. I explained to him that it is safe if they are in the cage.
