Cashews Are Actually Seeds

Cashews have always been a favorite snack of mine. Unsalted nuts are good for your heart and many other things.
Cashews are classified as seeds because they grow inside the cashew fruit, which is also known as a drupe.
Oddly enough, many of the most popular “nuts” aren’t true nuts either. Walnuts, almonds, pistachios, and pecans are also seeds of drupes, just like cashews.
I learned something new today. Did you know this? I would love to have a cashew tree.

Most "nuts" are seeds. Some nuts aren't even nuts at all. I don't really care, I just eat what's good. And I love the taste.

I have also learned something new. I would love to have a cashew tree as well. I love cashews, but do not eat them very often.

@CarolDM I like the salted ones best. I can eat some of them on the keto diet, but it's like less than a cup I think.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I do too but I am trying to cut back on my salt.

we used to get raw cashews in Thailand. We had to bake them ourselves - it was so much fun!

@CarolDM in thailand we could get 5 lbs of cashews for less than 2 bucks. They became my favorite nut, only to return to the US where they were expensive!

My favorite also. When I was little and went to town with my step dad he would stop and get a small bag of warm fresh cashews at this nut store for me cause I thought them such a treat yum

So what makes a nut a nut then? It has to grow outside a shell? Never mind, I can look it up sometime.

@CarolDM neither do I, lol. But I think I had to many slivers of almonds yesterday unless something else I ate is wrecking havoc with my stomach.
I love cashews and almonds.

@CarolDM I believe that everyone is in charge of another organ in the body ... walnuts are said to be good for the brain (because it looks like that organ) for beans to be good for the kidneys, etc. I'm not sure how reliable this information is, but I found it interesting
