A Sign Of The Times

So I'm upstairs in my bedroom, late at night, when I hear a noise downstairs. Hugo the dog is in the bedroom so it can't be him and unless the cats have put on several tens of kilograms it's highly unlikely to be them.
Spurred on by Mrs. WorDazza I arm myself with a 2kg dumbbell (Mrs. WorDazza's of course!!) and creep downstairs. Don't be stupid! I reach for the phone and dial 999 where I'm told how nobody is available to come to our aid.
A flash of inspiration strikes. "But there are two of them" I say "And they're not social distancing and they're not wearing masks". Before I could clamber from beneath the bed the boys in blue were crashing through my front door, at which point I was promptly arrested and fined for hosting an illegal indoor gathering.
Of course this didn't and couldn't possibly happen. Or did it? Or could it?

OMG! Please tell us this really happened and that your sweet wife refused to bail you out! (I can just hear her telling you, "I told you not to have a poker game without inviting the neighbors!")

@WorDazza *sigh* Now that I don't believe... I can't see her acting like someone on the set of the Jerry Springer show, no matter what you might want me to believe!

@DaddyEvil She'd be the one hanging off the huge security guard's back while attempting to throttle him.

At least someone bailed you out so you could tell us about it

@wolfgirl569 Cheers! But I live in Manchester. Hardly what I'd call civilisation

@kaylachan Aren't the infection rates much higher in California than they are in Florida?
My sister's friend had a visit from the police. She was ill (not covid related) and her husband works long night shifts so my sister did some shopping for them and dropped it off at their house. She went inside and one of the neighbours was obviously curtain twitching and reported it.
My sister and her partner have had no close contact with anyone else and neither have her friend and her husband so the risk was minimal.
These people need to realise, when this is all over, they have to live side by side with the people they're reporting.
Adolf and Josef would be so proud of these people.

@WorDazza This could happen! Why not? So much has and is happening already anyway.

@VivaLaDani13 I think our government are loving the sense of power and control they have over us and aren't going to let it go without a fight.

Very true. We're not far off this in the UK. If you're house is burgled you get a crime reference number and a police officer will visit a few days later to tell you they can't do anything. Call the police to report somebody visiting a house and they're round like a shot.

Was this a close encounter that occurred in your dreams? It must be your active and worried mind hard at work
