What would you choose?

Hmm, I have one place next to the front door, a flower pot would fit perfectly there. The place is sunny. I'm just wondering what kind of flowers to buy, so I need your help. Should I opt for ‘winter roses’ that have a flower or for some plant like ficus that doesn’t bloom? Or for some third species? What choice would you make? Picture source: google

Ficus would be a nice year round plant. Or maybe you could change it up. Put roses during the winter, then ficus the rest of the year.

@CarolDM Yes, I could change. Good idea, would you opt for these types too or do you have a better idea?

@LowRiderX There are so many options, depends on the space. But your choices sound perfect.

@CarolDM There is enough space for one larger pot, but only on one side of the door.

I like plants that bloom but I put succulents in my front door.

@LowRiderX I am well, thank you and you and your family? I have been quite busy lately, it is good to see you too. I don't have here a picture of my succulents but tomorrow I will take one. Succulents can grow big and they are very resistant.

@nela13 I'm glad to hear that, the most important thing is that everything is ok. To me, when succulents are mentioned, I immediately imagine them in small pots, they are usually kept on the table in small transparent glass containers.

@nela13 Hey nice to see you, I hope you're all well !? Not a bad idea for succulents either, they are also quite durable but they are small and the space is bigger so I thought to put some slightly larger plant, these winter roses grow in a bush or possibly that ficus tree

@LowRiderX Yes a creeper. Yes you would have to have a trellis.

Both are fabulous plants. I alternate flowers in my pots depending on the season. A ficus here does best inside the hose without much movement.

@LowRiderX That's right! I had a large ficus that dropped leaves if I moved it. They are very sensitive plants and big cry babies!

@DianneN Yes, that's how I thought to change with the season, ficus and it doesn't need much light, it doesn't even like direct sun

@LowRiderX The apartment complex has flowers in many areas. There are some outside my bedroom window. We can't plant anything outside.

@just4him So the majority voted so i will put on winter roses and then probably change again with some seasonal plant. Do you have any flowers at the front door?

@Hannihar I'm not sure that roses would survive in a pot, we usually plant them in the yard here, they need a lot of space, but yes, I love roses too Does that mean you don't have a plant in front of the front door?

@DocAndersen I also buy cut flowers, during the spring I regularly change the flowers, it's a habit, I do it all my life, somehow my room is different, fresher when I have flowers in a vase.

@DocAndersen Awww so nice of you, but I generally like flowers and those that don't bloom. I will put winter roses and then later in the spring I will change with some seasonal plant (if someone doesn't steal flowers in front of my door in the meantime)

I'd always choose flowering plants. But some plants with different-colored leaves can be nice too. if you're a busy person , maybe choose a plant that's easy to care for?

I love colour, I find it very personal, warm and inviting. I like both of your choices. Are you familiar with butterfly bushes? They bloom from spring until fall, but I am not sure if the dwarf plant would survive in a pot.

@Juliaacv I'm not familiar, maybe I am, if we call it by a different name here, now I will immediately check what that plant looks like.. Yes, we have, but I haven't seen that plant here in the area, it is mostly planted in backyards because it needs a lot of space ... I don't have so much space for such a branched plant, even if it grows in a pot.

I'm not actually all that fond of potted plants - I prefer them in the garden. Any flowers in my house are gifts. I have an orchid sitting on my mantelpiece right now - given by a friend.

@jaboUK I have them in the garden too, but on this other side (at the front door) my entrance is somehow empty, as if one pot is missing to make it look 'fresher'. And as for orchids, they are beautiful, they just require a lot of attention and knowledge, but at least I don't doubt you, you have one of the most beautiful courtyards I've ever had a chance to see
