Back Pain

A few days ago, I stretched a muscle in my lower back while coughing. I have been stiff and sore since then, and when I get up from my chair, it is when it hurts the most. Does anyone have a trick here to get rid of the pain?

How frustrating. I use a heating pad when that happens.

@marlina You poor thing! I'm sorry about your back. I often have issues with my back. For me, I may put a heat pack on it, do stretches or lay flat on the floor for a little bit. Sometimes with something underneath my back to stretch it further.

@marlina I am so so sorry about the muscle in your lower back. Is there anything that will help you get over the soreness? I use ben gay and a heating pad when my lower back hurts.

@marlina I am so so sorry that none of that worked for you. Is there something you can get at the pharmacy that will help?

Have you tried a nice hot shower letting the water hit you on that sore spot for a bit and then maybe follow it up with a heating pad? I swear by heat when my back bothers me.

I take Advil, hang on my chinning bar, and then do some heroin (Vicodin). I have chronic lower back pain. With muscle pulls, I think time is the best healer.

I hurt mine last week, not sure how. I use those pain patches and they really help. I get them at the Walmart pharmacy for about a $1.00 or so. Hope you feel better.

@marlina Yes, they have a sticky side so they stay in place all day. I think one is called Tiger Balm or something like that. There are a couple of brands to choose from and they are all very close in price.

Oh, ouch. I did a month of physical therapy. It does help. The stretches they gave me help IF (big if) I do them. They involve stretching, one knee pulled toward opposite arm for thirty seconds, I think. Same leg elevate, point and flex fifteen times. Everything done with abdominal muscle pulled in, but still breathing. I hope you feel better soon.

Ouch!!! Do you have a heating pad and some Ben Gay? That may help. A muscle relaxer pill would help too but most people don't have any of those. May have to wait it out and let it heal on its own.

One thing I do for periodic back pain is lay on a tennis ball. It was recommended to me by a massage therapist and it does help a lot. I use it when the back of my neck gets tight too. I do it in bed and move it to other locations that are tight when the first seems better. It could take several days before it helps totally.
