Revenge of the Ants.

So I killed many, I tried so hard to kill them all yesterday. They were back this morning. I wiped them out again and again and again with the towel and bleach. But maybe some survived for I have three bites in my arms. I just felt it, the sting, ugh! And now I think I have one bit at my leg. grr. I will ask my husband to buy that ant chalk while I am waiting for the diatomaceous earth (whew, what a name and spelling). And I will try all all the other things some of you suggested. No hurt in trying, right? Have a lovely night/day to all.

Something my dad said when we bought this house .. . . he said to water around the outside perimeter of the house (and keep plants planted) to keep bugs out of the house. He said bugs get thirsty too . . . and if there is nothing out there, they're going to come inside. Now I don't know if that actually helps, but may be something to consider.

I have yet to try the diatomaceous earth, but I know some people here have used it. Last night, after your first post, I decided to spray chemical ant repeller around the areas that get ants the most.

@rakski I hope it will work for you. I think I need to spray more areas of the house. I now see them in my bathroom!

It is a chalk like dust made from ancient seashells. It works it's way into the exoskeleton of insects and makes them dehydrate and kills them. It works on all kinds of insects.

I hope you are able to get rid of them. My Mum would follow their trail outside and back to their nest then she would try to destroy the nest.

I tried following them, it is a very small hole in the wall unfortunately. I put a wax on the hole, the next time I saw them in another place

Yeah. Just killing them won't do you any good. When you see them out only about 25-30% of the nest is out, so unless you can kill the nest you are really just fighting a losing battle. DTE DOES help, because they will take that back to the nest. That's really the key. Having either something like DTE or a slow acting chemical or bait that they can take back with them to kill the entire nest.

When I saw them I either pour boiling water or spray water with chlorox.

Another idea is to search where the ants came from and spray or pour insecticide on the hole to their dwelling. Pouring boiling water will also do.

@sunrisefan the very tiny hole is in the wall. If I do that I will have to clean the mess I will make

@rakski You should have sprayed more or mixed the chlorox with about a liter of water and pour it all so it reaches deep into their dwelling.

You need to " search and destroy " the nest if possible and capture or kill the queen that lays all the eggs.
