Can Anyone Explain What's Going on With the British Royal Family?

So I'm not a keen follower of the British Royal Family, However today I woke up and saw them trending and got curious. I honestly thought one of them had died only to see a lot of posts about interviews and bullying claims against the Royal Family. What's really going on?

@fionarubi Unfortunately they are still using oxygen just hanging about being royal. But they are a protected species with plenty of natural habitat so we’ll just have to put up with them.

Why does it matter? Who has the time to give a crap what's going on with them, when it literally doesn't effect us? I have never cared to hear or know what's going on with them. And Princess Di dying is one of the biggest "news" stories from my childhood.
