Oh, That Old Ring?

I gave my younger son several pieces of jewelry for his girlfriend and to sell online.
One was this ring, given to me hundreds of years ago, by my husband.
My son recognized it immediately. He remembered me wearing it all the time from when he was 4 years old right through high school, college, and beyond.
He associates special memories with this now beat up old ring. . He wants his girlfriend to have it. It matches a necklace he bought her for her birthday, too.
That’s okay with me.

It’s funny how we kids attach sentimental value to things of our parents. I have a ring that my mom got in 1952, and there’s NOTHING you could give me for it!
I think your son kinda likes you.

That is a beautiful ring. And very nice that your son remembers you wearing it as he grew up.

@DianneN I can imagine as a mother how heartwarming that feels to know that your children have special memories of their childhood.

I had earrings that would have gone well with this ring (but I lost one of them ). You may think this ring is beat up, but obviously it holds something very special to your son - and now his girlfriend . But was your husband ok with it?

@much2say I have several earrings like that - all good for nothing now. I should have them melted down or sell them online to someone with either one ear or someone who has an extra piercing.
Thanks! I wouldn’t sell anything without asking him.

It's a very nice ring you're willing to hand down. It's nice to be able to do that. He had some good memories related to that ring.

@DianneN that's cool that he was aware of it that much.
