Got my first Covid shot today

I got it at Kaiser, my medical provider, this morning. They did not ask for proof that I am a teacher. My word over the phone while setting up the appointment was sufficient.
The most painful part of the shot was the length of the line, or queue, if you prefer. Once checked in I had to stand in line about 25 minutes before getting my shot. As a "low risk" person, I had to "chill" at a desk in a "classroom" full of people (socially distanced) for 15 minutes after the shot. The shot itself was painless.
The version I got was the Moderna version. The wait time for the second shot is one month with this version. With the Pfizer version, it's three weeks. Of course, the J & J version is single-shot.
With the Moderna version the first shot gives you 80% protection, and the second shot raises that to 95%. All three versions are said to lower the severity of symptoms if you do contract the virus after being vaccinated.
My overall time from my truck back to my truck was one hour.
Heh. Any questions? Do I get a good grade on my "what I did this morning" paper?

I don't know, were you expecting one? Now the real fun starts. People who report side-effects don't typically feel them until a day or two after the injection. Good luck.

I also got the Moderna version (a few days ago ... possibly because my caregiver is a teacher; I didn't ask).
Where do they get those percentages, I wonder.

@TheHorse "100% of the statistics are 100% imaginary."
that is, all they are is just 'mathematically figuring how good their guesses probably are.' I guess I just wanted to know if you'd seen the actual math they used.

@mythociate I never got beyond Linear Algebra and graduate level statistics. Will I be able to figure it all out?

@TheHorse I see no reason to get it. For ages, I have not gotten a flu shot and I cannot remember the last time I had flu or even a virus, I would just prefer not to get the shot.

Good job! We got our second dose of the Moderna vaccine last Tuesday. We had appointments and only had to wait a few minutes at a Giant Eagle pharmacy. You definitely get a good grade! BTW, my shot hurt like the dickens!

@LindaOHio I did not. In fact, I didn't even think it up until I was typing this response. All of my Very Clever Responses occur about two days late. Any @Vandana7 will attest, I'm quite innocent.

I also got the shot but it was because of my age. The second shot is due next Wednesday. The health service provided chairs at social distance and with big canvas umbrellas against the sun. The 15 minute after were in another place, with chairs too. They offered iced water in paper glasses every now and then.

@TheHorse Maybe they knew that I have vodka Absolut in my freezer and a bottle of Jack Daniels in my closet. I did not take them with me because I don´t share

I'm group 5 and they're still on 1-3.
The most painful part is always the wait. I had to do the Flu & Swine flu vaccine a few years ago (within a few days of each other) and that was a fun experience. I went hiking in the mountains and think it accelerated all the icky side effects. Came home and slept for 12 hours.

@thelme55 We have "Advice Nurses" here, and they're really good. If I discover a conjoined fetus growing from the side of my head, I can call them any time and get a response to any inquiries I might have. They're more helpful than the doctors.
