My Husband Broke his Neck

That's one reason I haven't been here for a while. I was suddenly thrust into the role of full-time caregiver. He is healing well and I'm finally able to leave the house for a short time to shop, etc. Our friends and church have been very helpful in getting us through this. Fortunately, the spinal cord was not injured.
I don't have much time to be online yet, since all his work and mine are now mostly mine. I was sick with a virus when he had his accident. Last week one of my root canals went bad and got infected. Just took the last antibiotic and waiting to see what's next. I also need to get an eye appointment before my drivers license is set to expire near the end of next month. I'm not sure I can pass the eye test until I get new glasses. Hubby can't drive in his condition yet, either.
Never a dull moment. We will get through this. I'm thankful Hubby has had no pain and is regaining some independence since his ill-fitting brace was finally replaced by one that is more comfortable last week. He is modeling it in the photo. More when I have more time.

I'm the type that has fainted in empathy when others in the hospital groaned in pain when I was visiting someone in the next bed. So I'm very grateful Hubby was not in that kind of pain. I fainted when Hubby groaned when I picked him up from getting his wisdom teeth pulled when we were first married. Empathy is good to a certain extent, but not when you are the primary caregiver and fainting would be a bad thing.

@bagarad Your hubby would also be finding it very tough with restricted movement. My Prayers and wishes once more.

@bagarad My youngest daughter ended up with a piece of titanium in her neck because she would not mind me.

Easier said than done. I have to watch him like a hawk. He is straining against the leash I've got him on. A friend prayed he'd be healed and he believes he is. There is no pain to tell him otherwise. We will get an X-ray this afternoon to check his progress. He never did have any pain except where they sewed him up. We talk to the doctor on the 30th.

He was on the way to got to the gym to swim and stopped to drop some letters at the post office. He was in a hurry to get to the pool and walked too quickly back to his car in the parking lot. there were some decorative red brick squares in between sidewalk squares. They weren't quite flat. He was wearing a pair of Classic Crocsand the heels were worn down on the outer sides. As he walked fast, he was't lifting his feet as he should and one of those red squares stopped his toe. The rest of him kept going until he was flat on his face.
An off-duty paramedic happened to be coming out of the post office and was able to come to his aid and call the ambulance. Since his wallet was still locked in his car, he had no ID with him when he got to the ER and no phone. So they didn't contact me until he needed a ride home four hours later.

Oh that is so horrible. I recall checking out on some of your blogs from time to time, but somehow I have not checked in a while.
I wish your husband a speedy recovery.
How did he get this injury?

Ok. Christ, help both of you to full recovery and bring more happiness to you. So good, your husband's spinal cord is alright. Hope things go good for your license renewal. Thank you Christ, amen.
