She's calling an old friend about something. She could literally talk for hours. Makes sense since they rarely see each other. I did too, back in high school, I talked with friends when I am bored. I think the longest was almost 3 hours? I do not use the telephone much these days, I don't even message. I prefer talking in person, but unfortunately we cannot as of the moment.

PHones are all we have at the moment. Safest means of communication to those who are far away from us.

I don't like talking on the phone long. I used to long ago but now it's a few text, email or in person. My mom would talk for hours. Even when we went camping, she'd meet someone at the outhouse and they'd talk for hours.

I prefer emailing one another these days. I work a lot and can respond when I have time instead of being tied up in person or on the phone.

I rarely speak on the phone aswell. I usually send messages with messenger, instagram or whatsapp. But I understand that your mom likes to call because now that we can't be in contact with each other due to the covid 19 listening to the voice of our friends can be good. And usually older people prefer to speak on the phone than to send texts. As long as your mother feel happy that's the most important thing We are facing a hard time and it is very important that people can connect with each other in some way to avoid depression.

Yeah, we place a chair near the phone whenever she calls a friend, since we know it will take at least 30 minutes. I always offer to to reply to her facebook messages and comments in her stead, since she doesn't know to do it, but she refuses~ so the phone is her only way of contacting her friends. i really wish shed learn though, since i also think her friends miss her.
