Does anyone remember getting colored chicks at Easter?

When I was a kid I remember besides getting the Easter Baskets filled with candy and goodies, I also got a lot of live baby chicks that were dyed different colors. I think I got about 6 of them and they came in a nice size cage that was outside. I would bring them in the house sometimes. I also got a few white rabbits.
Did anyone here ever get them or knew of them?

Absolutely. Some people are crazy and always wanting to do nasty things to people or animals. I recently adopted my grandsons cockatiel and we are having so much fun with him. Being retired, we have all the time to play with him and keep him company. I have learned more about these little critters from the internet. They are amazing. I had parakeets when I was a young teenager and loved them/.

Easter egg hunt was not a tradition where I’m from. So never really recalled such. But i saw those colored chicks on Instagram every Easter.

@toniganzon That is interesting. I love learning about how different countries have different traditions, etc.

I never got live chicks or rabbits for Easter, but I did always get different colored Peeps for Easter. Does that count? lol

@ramapo17 I'm doing okay. I got Covid again, almost a year after I had it the first time. I've been sick for the last 3 weeks, and still can't shake this nasty cough.

@ramapo17 Today marks exactly one month since I got Covid, and I'm still dealing with the after-effects of the virus, especially with my breathing. It's definitely been a struggle. I just can't wait for that day when I feel 100% healthy again.

The only colorful chicks that I ever got in my Easter baskets were plastic toys, thankfully.
I wouldn't be surprised if our bunny was somebody's Easter bunny at one point. Nobody ever bothered coming forward when I posted about finding her in the park back in November. It's unfortunately really common for them to be dumped when they're not little and cute anymore.

I remember them. Mom and dad always bought us some and they were the next years egg layers.

We never killed them. We gave them to a neighbor that had all kinds of animals and none for eating. They had some big properties and had all kinds of animals.
