I have a colleague and a friend whom I like very much and I have done a lot for him but in the result I have never got an inch of affinity from him. 
It seams he has never ever felt that how much I like him. I have tried not to talk to him but in vain as I could not refrained . Even he always come after me when he feels I am ignoring him.
What should I do so that he may love me like I do?

Yes it has to be like this theoritically but it's not happening. Even I too try to divert my attention towards someone else but whenever I am with him I forget everything because even he is like me. He alwaysalways chase me whenever I stop talking to him but he pretends as if he doesn't care.

you can not do it. You can do one thing, do not ignore him, rather make him believe that he does not mean anything to you. You don't care about him anymore.

@sjvg1976 actually this is my style of ignoring people. You can't say it Ignoring, but it's worse than that.

@Bhaskarjhborah yes I ignored him for few days then he came back to me and his behaviour has improved a bit.

Who knows? maybe he is just quite shy or anything like that. Just give him some time and just a piece of advice dont give him way too much attention he might not like the idea that is why he is just being silent

you can't make someone like you, they either do or don't.
what you CAN do is tell him about your feelings and see what happens next.
also, don't let him use you without you noticing it because you like him.

Why are some people mindless, unempathetic, and distant, not warm, without natural affection, as my father used to say?
I think that these types of people allow their mind to direct them past their heart, because they are basically afraid to follow the love in their hearts, and when it comes closer, they step deeper into their mind, afraid of closeness, and commitment.
Enough kindness and love from your side, might eventually allow him to step into his heart, but there are no guarantees in these things either.

ignore him and always pretend as you don"t like him anymore if he want you he will come back
