My score is up again...

Credit scores are weird. I had a balance on one of my cards for only $28...and my score drops 2 points. 2 points for that little amount. Then i pay $1.000 off two credit cards, and it goes up only 12 points. You charge a little and the ratio is higher than if you payoff a lot. Oh well... I am still trying to learn it all. LOL However... With that being said...my score is now up to 711. Just 89 points away from my next bucket list score of 800. I know this score is doable. Because at least two residents has their scores that high. One has an 800 score, and another has a 810 score. In a little over a year I went from a credit score of 523 to now 711. I just never dreamed my life would turn around like this... Eeeeeeek! LOL

I have no idea what my current credit score is. Any time I've checked before, I've suddenly been bombarded with letters from debt collection agencies for debts I never owed (even offered proof I didn't owe one of them and they told me the proof didn't prove anything). I'd have thought that my credit score had improved recently. Although that might be only with companies I'm currently using. I've worked hard to improve mine but I'm wary of checking it!

@teresatrotter as far as I know, we don't have anything like the credit bureau in the UK. When I tried to dispute something, I was told I had to go through the company as they would need my customer number - even thought I'd never even heard of the company. It seems silly but the best advice we're given is to ignore any correspondence if you don't owe it. If you acknowledge it, it's assumed you're acknowledging the debt.

@pumpkinjam That is correct info they are giving you. I had no idea you did not have a credit bureau to report things to... In this case... The best thing is to ignore if you do not owe the debt. Do they have a statue of limitations where it will finally fall off your record? Or will it be on your record for life if the company decides to always hold you accountable?

It took sometimes years with some companies and organizations by filing disputes with the credit bureau before they were removed. Many time speaking to the companies directly does not do much good. I go through the credit bureau. Because that way they have to send them prove you owe them, and if they can't then the credit bureau removes it from your account. Credit agencies try to scare people into paying them, even if they don't owe them. But they are not able to do it with the credit bureau. If they prove the debt is legit, then you can ask for copies of the bills so you can see why you owe it.

My score is fine, above 780. There is a car loan and a personal loan, which installments are being paid on time.

That's good. But my life has been very difficult and hard. My score was low not because I did not pay my bills. I had little to no debt. But the little I had went bad when I ended up sleeping in my car for two years. Now...I have resolved everything, and improving my life and credit score. I am proud of myself. Most people once they hit bottom, they don't try to get their life restored. It takes a lot of work to do it. It won't be long where my score will be just as high as yours. I am looking forward to that day.

@teresatrotter It was bad to hear that. Bad times come in everyone's life. But those who do not lose to them only succeed in life. Hope you get well
