A very simple pompano fish soup

Pompano has become a favorite fish in this household. We are mainly pescatarians here - we consume more fish and veggies than red meat or chicken or game. So it's always a treat for us to have this white fish for soup.
I just boiled tomatoes, ginger and onions in water. Then I lowered the fish and left it to simmer. I seasoned with fish sauce then added some water spinach. As soon as I turned off the stove, I poured in some freshly squeezed calamondin juice. Delish! A very simple yet very satisfying dish.

Yes, it's generally the better diet. Sometimes when I eat one whole burger, I feel dirty and sinful. It's probably psychological too.

@almostoveryou I am sure that it is psychological. We never eat pork, I have the feeling that I smell bad if I eat pork.

Not really. We don't get a lot here so they're kinda pricey.

That's a beautiful memory of your mother. I prefer white fish for soup too.

Fortunately the ones that we get from here are plump and fleshy. We get the biggest we can get, have it cut into 3 parts and share the soup in one meal.

Yup. I prefer this as soup than grilled or fried.

That particular dish that you just prepared kinda looks like a local dish that most filipinos prepare too, Anyways just looking at it makes me want to try it out sometime too. Cheers for sharing your thought in here my friend

It is a Filipino dish. In local term, it would be called 'pangat'. You might have tried this before.

@rakski we cook pangat style. Yeah, understable..too risky to go to a crowded market these days.
