Losing Allowances Due to Household Chores

When I was in high school, I randomly lost my allowance because of laziness. The main reason is I do not want to do household chores. I used to ask my younger siblings to do them for me. I need to pay them though. It happened that I need to maintain my good grades at school since I am a scholar at that time. Are you that lazy to do household chores when at my age? Do you pay someone to do household chores? Are you being paid to do household chores? Image Credit: wl-brightside.cf.tsp.li

I was not asked to do household chores when I was a student. I never did until I was a grown up young woman, I did my bedroom at that time.

During my high school and university days, I was dreaming to live in a school dormitory. The reason is not to do my daily household chores given by my parents. Unfortunately, all our schools were so near the house.

Nope. I wasn't oppose to chores back in high school. My brothers were the indolent ones like you. Nope, there's no such thing as payment for household tasks. I loved washing dishes and sweeping floors, arranging the flower vases and making the sala presentable.

It was only who is doing this. My parents will be in a rage if they knew this. I was the one who pays my siblings out of my pocket that was given as my school allowance. The ending, I need to be frugal during my school days.

My mom never let us do anything because we did not do it correctly and she did not want to waste time teaching us.

@rebelann In my humble opinion, your mom does not want her kids to experience doing chores at an early age. For the love of mothers, as they said.

During our primary school; days, my mom did not allow me to do household chores without her supervision. Basically, we are like her personal assistance at that time.

We (siblings) fight before because of chores. When my mother passed away, I realized how difficult her job was in the house.

I do agree with you. I always think that all responsible mothers are super women. They did so many things for the family.

I wanted to read instead of doing my chores, but I didn't want to get switched, so did the chores as quickly as I could so I could read again. I do the chores now because if I didn't, nobody else will do them and I can't stand to live in nastiness/filth. *shrug*

It was one of my naughtiness way back in high school. At random, if my other siblings were loaded with schoolwork, I am obliged to do my chores. At present, I have so many responsibilities to deal with things at home. It sounds like payback time.

My Mum never used to let me anywhere near the kitchen when I was a kid! Now I love doing the washing up, and I don't get paid for it.

@sharonelton I remembered that we had this class in elementary before. Like your teacher, we did not learn in that particular class. The cooking projects were done in my homes and brought them to school.

@Shavkat I'd love to get a rice cooker. I never did that in school. We made a potato bake in cooking class but the cooking teacher was awful! She presumed we knew stuff when we didn't. I mean I didn't know how to turn the cooker on and she never showed us! I was very shy and didn't like asking! So she shouldn't have been surprised when I was the last one to finish! My Mum and Step-dad enjoyed eating it anyway!

My mother never pays us for doing household chores. We must do it or else we are grounded for weeks. So, I have to do it and just try enjoying it. I believe in the saying clean environment will have clear mind

To make it clear, my parents never pay us for household chores. It is my personal allowance given to us when going to school. I saved it and paid my siblings if they want to do my designated household chores. However, some of our childhood friends were being paid for by their parents. Eventually, they turned to be spoiled brats. They will not do anything without being paid.

Lol nope when I was in high school I washed my own clothes dried them folded them and out them away. Why because my mom was solo with me and my dad worked in a different state at the time and I got use to it. I still do all of the clothes since I’m a mom and wife. It’s just what I do. Nobody pays me for it never did when I was teen either.

@Shavkat my kids have zero allowance. When olde enough to they can work some times on and odd day I’ll tell them I’ll give them a little money do they do this or that but it’s supper rare.

@ShyBear88 During my school days, my parents do not have enough time to prepare food for lunch during school days before. That's the reason why we have a modest allowance.

From my parents' perspective, they never paid us when doing household chores. It was my personal expense to pay my other siblings secretly. We only have daily allowance when going to school. I earned mine and use to pay them if I do not feel like doing my designated household chores. I do agree with you that it is not a good thing that parents will pay their kids when doing chores. It will violate the principle of being trained to be a responsible soul in the family.

I remember not really liking chores as a kid. Raking leaves or mowing the lawn were not fun. And it took time away from playing. Funny now that I've got my own house and yard I don't think about them as a chore but something necessary which had to be done to maintain my property. Guess with age comes a change in attitude, but I'd still rather do something more relaxing, lol

I must admit that I am the laziest sibling in the house. Since I am the eldest, I need to use my power over my siblings. At least, they were compensated for doing my chores in the house.

The allowances that I am referring to were given on weekdays by my parents. I earned and did not spend it at school. For some classmates of mine, the parents paid them to do something. My parents never encourage this at home.

These allowances are being earned daily during those days. Instead of spending them and making my life easier during high school, I rather gave them to my other siblings and do my household chores instead. At some point, it is a win-win situation.
