Their new home is being prepared!

Many years ago, when our 28-year-old son was very much younger, he had a sandpit in the garden. Unfortunately the cover was left off one night and the thing was flooded - he was growing out it anyway by then, so it didn't really matter. However, this accidental pond was soon colonised by frogs, who have proceeded to produce a new crop of frogspawn every Spring since, thus continuing the colony down to the present day. However, our garden project has come at just the wrong time for them, because the old pond is about to be replaced by a proper one, meaning that their old home has to be chucked out just as they have done their usual job of trying to produce a new generation. I therefore rescued a batch of frogspawn and put it in an old fish tank on the window sill of my upstairs office. There is therefore a new crop of tadpoles wriggling about just asking to be photographed with my macro lens! By allowing the sun to shine through the window, I am hoping that this will stimulate the growth of algae for them to feed on, but I am adding a few grains of fish food just in case - if anyone can suggest a better way of feeding tadpoles, please feel free to tell me! The garden project should be finished long before the tadpoles turn into frogs, so I am looking forward to introducing them to their new home - still as tadpoles - in due course!

You have a kind heart to do that for those tadpoles.

@indexer I had a frog in my garden for a couple of years, goodness knows where he came from as I've no standing water.

@jaboUK It was always a mystery to us how our frogs arrived originally - the nearest pond to us at the time was about half a mile away!

We want to have frogs in our new pond, so this is our attempt to transfer them from the old pond to the new. Having frogs in a garden is a good way to keep slugs under control!

Haha - just don't forget about them or you might have frogs all over the office!

The new pond is being dug and should be ready long before the tadpoles turn into frogs!
