To work from home or just the regular type of work

I just had an offer from a certain company to work for them last night. Although recently i am working from home as a freelancer and making quite a bit out of it. Now i am trying to figure out which one should I choose between working from home or to be in an actually working place at the office...Will it be better to keep my freelancing job or to venture outside to gain more experience and mature more bout work and stuff?

it depends on how you want it. Working from an actual office may give you more knowledge but working at home can give you freedom of time

@rakski You got that right! And it is obviously better than having no options at all right?Jobs nowadays are not that easy to find specially because working outside your place can be really dangerous because of the pandemic too

You are still young, so go for the new job. If it doesn't work out , you can always go back to freelancing,

It depends. How is the Covid situation in your area? How close to other people would working in an office put you? I work from home now so I can avoid catching Covid. I don't make as much money but I also don't drive to work or have to be in contact with lots of other people. I have some health issues that make catching Covid problematic for me. If you've already worked in an environment other than from home, then you won't be gaining that much new experience. Of course, this is only my own opinion.

Cases of covid in our are is quite rampant lately. But good for me as i do not have much illness yet that might make me a vulnurable victim for the virus though. Gaining much experience is what i am thinking that is why i am thinking bout considering working outside too

@setsuna26 Then if you have little worry about the virus, you should think strongly about trying the job. You might like it better than working at home.

Yeah that is why i said i am thinking bout it. I am doing good when it comes to freelancing but i dont find it too beneficial for me because it seems like i am not that much growing from that type of work though

It is depending on how you want to work. I would try working in an office if I were you. You can still do the freelancing when the office work is not good for you.

At first I also thought about that too. But recently in our country the cases of covid19 surged like hell. And to be out almost everyday is more like gambling with the possibility of getting the virus itself. But you are right with the fact that working in the office can be more rewarding at times indeed

@thelme55 It might not be as rewarding as the one from the office but at least it is safer than to be traveling from home to the office everyday. Cheers thanks for the input

Indeed my friend it is indeed a blessing that I happen to have an option but i have to admit that it can be really hard to choose as well. If you were given the chance what will you be choosing though?

@CarolDM If the situation with this pandemic right now keeps getting worse I might just pick the work from home setup instead. Being sick is really that hard in the Philippines right now, most hospitals are at their limits as we speak . Full capacity

If you are happy and contented with your current work, then stay with it. Besides, the current situation in our country is not a good timing to have an offline job where you have to report physically on your work station.

somehow you got that right, to be physically present to our current work means we have to deal with the threat of the virus every now and then too . I will take this matter into consideration my friend. Thanks for sharing your inputs

@ARIES1973 Taken into consideration that aspect too. Before this pandemic happened I do have a permanent offline job too but because of the latter I decided to give it up and settled to be a freelancer at least temporarily until the worst is over with the pandemic

@setsuna26 However, under normal condition, it is still good to have a permanent job. I mean offline because we have a counterpart on our mandatory contributions such as PAGIBIG, SSS, GSIS, etc. which would be beneficial to us in the long run. Moreover, meeting new people can lead us to better opportunities. We can do the online working on a part time especially if we have such interest on online things. What could be better than doing the things you want t o do and get paid by doing it.

Check what is convenient for you. You say you are making good on your freelance work, I would choose WFH set up. However, if the other offer is something you like, time to rethink, consider what is best for you. I worked from home from April to October and I loved it.

It depends on the perspective for the future. Is the job that they offer safe? Is it a good and reliable company? Will you have the possibility to have a good position in the future? You must evaluate all the possibilities before deciding.

@nela13 Yes, I kept my freelancing work instead my friend. Although it might not be as rewarding as the other, but since my country is in a surge of covid cases right now being out everyday might just give it a higher risk for my health instead. I'd rather be safe for now than sick in the end.

It depends what is more important to you, socialization or freedom? Maybe you could work out something with the office employer to work at home a day or two a week. That way, you could have the best of both worlds.

Freedom comes in first for me though. But I was told that if I will be staying with the freelance job that I do have right now then growth for me in that field may not be possible and that is something that I am quite afraid of

Social interaction when you are on a corporate job is something that you can't find when you are a freelancer. If you are the type of person who is not comfortable working alone for the entire shift then maybe freelancing is not for you. Career growth is present for both I think, as long as your client is supportive of you.

I would take the job and also continue freelancing in my free time. It would give you the best of both worlds and then you can decide which one suites you better. You never know, working outside may provide you with better freelancing opportunities. If you like meeting and greeting new people and if your job allows that then why not?
@setsuna26 (2751)

Although it is a good idea to do just that. I am afraid the other job is rather time consuming that you won't be able to work as a freelancer once your in it already. I tried thinking bout that way too but alas it might give back a bad result if i go that way. Although I really appreciate the fact that you've given it a thought though. Thanks for sharing your idea mate

I don't know. I think too many people nowadays are trying to find some easy, pie in the sky way to make a living these days, and the reality is unless you get out there and actually physically work... All of the effort being put into trying to find an easy route would be better spent just getting a damn regular job. Just my two cents.

Point taken. Given the situation that there is a pandemic and all, working in the office that lets you mingle with a lot of people and transport to go to office might be a bit dangerous but you are right with your point too that there is no easy way or sky way for just about anything

@setsuna26 I don't agree necessarily that it has been all that dangerous to physically go to work. Many more people remained working during the pandemic than did not, even though even here unemployment was high. But these were all lower paying jobs like restaurant and hospitality workers. People who continued to work include lawyers, doctors, judges, nurses, construction workers, HVAC and plumbers, pest control workers, ready mix concrete workers, fast food workers, grocery and other retail workers, waste removal workers, food delivery workers, many manufacturing workers, shipping workers, postal service workers and the list goes on. I am not sure what the exact situation is or was in the Philippines, but there have always been plenty of jobs out there. Even through the pandemic. And many worked them regardless of the pandemic.
