Hubby is Stable Now

The doctor told Hubby early this week that he can be free of the brace now unless he is in a car or walking on uneven ground. He still has to see the doctor again in three months, but he's doing really well.
It usually takes two months or more for this kind of fracture to stabilize. A friend came to pray for Hubby's neck to heal in the middle of March. He was ready to ditch the brace then, but I insisted he wait for the X-rays. He got those X-rays shortly before I wrote the first post on this, but we didn't have the results until he talked to the doctor on March 30.
As soon as his forehead finishes healing we hope he'll be as good as new. The doctor says the X-rays show his neck looking about like it did in a set of similar X-rays taken in 2017. We are very thankful.

@bagarad that's good progress - him getting to places on his own.

@wolfgirl569 He wasn't as eager to go as I thought. He stayed home.

That's good. Tell him to not be so impatient and keep the brace on. He doesn't want to break his neck completely.

He's pretty upbeat. He's like a dog straining at the leash to get out on his own and resume his normal life as if nothing happens. I'm trying to get him to take it gradually until his stamina comes back. He's spend almost five weeks sitting or lying down. He can't just assume he can do all he used to until he has walked more where it's safe and driven around the neighbor a bit to get used to driving again.

He fell flat on his face on a cement sidewalk leaving the post office exactly six weeks ago. The photo shows what's left of the stitches remaining on the worst wound. He still has broken teeth that need to be fixed. The break in his neck did not affect his spinal cord, and may already be completely healed, but the doctor wants the brace to stay on in situations where accidents may be more likely, like in a car or walking on unstable ground.
