Waiting For Water

You would think, being that I am a frugal guy, that bottled water would not be for me. And not that there is anything wrong with tap, mind you. I just find it easier to force myself to drink water when I can just grab a bottle. But I absolutely, under no condition whatsoever, will pay more than $1.99 for a 24 pack of 500ml bottles. I simply will not. And for the past couple of weeks Aldi has been selling it for about $2.19, and Schnuck's today was $2.29. Walmart is a no go because their bottled water prices even for Great Value are always more expensive than anywhere else. I have enough water for now. I usually keep pretty well stocked up on most things for the very REASON I refuse to pay more than my preferred price on anything. But until I can find a case for the price I want... I am leaving it in the store.

I bought a Brita filter jug and just use that.

I have thought about doing that a few times, but I would have to do the math on it to see if I would actually be saving money in the long run.

@porwest I only change the filters every 4 months instead of 3.

@RebeccasFarm Geez, that's how I manage my oil changes. I do them every 6000 miles instead of every 3000 miles. lol

@porwest I am glad that you have enough for now. I can understand why you do not want to pay that much for bottled water. I hope you can find it cheaper.

@porwest I know what you are saying about Biden. I am sorry that you might have to bite the bullet and pay the price for it that you do not want to and get it.

@Hannihar I may invest in one of those filter jugs. Might solve the problem, and technically there is nothing wrong with tap.

I think I should be able to. Of course with Biden in there everything is going up in anticipation of higher taxes. So, I might just have to bite the bullet.

I would usually boil tap water. Won't drink it just like that. Even if I buy bottled water, I would still boil it. So yeah, that's me being weird.

I used to work for Coca-Cola where they made Dasani and fully understand the process that goes into bottled water. There is absolutely no need whatsoever to boil bottled water. It in fact serves no purpose at all.

Do you think the prices will go down? Everywhere I turn, prices on things seem to go up.

I am not sure. I have seen the same. Everything is going up, and of course I know exactly why they are going up, and it is multi-fold. I may have to raise my threshold price due to this at some point in the near future.

How come I have a house and you are still needing one? Hmmm. Maybe being a cheapass works?

@NJChicaa But I am not wrong. Watch your money and that house is right around the corner for you. As I always say, save on the things you need so you can afford the things you want. I am only trying to help you. Watch those pennies, they matter and they add up. Every penny counts, and unless you have many pennies, you should worry about every single one you can keep.

I don't like bottled water because of the plastic waste. Do you recycle your bottles? I can't stand water and must force down every gulp.

@porwest Good man! Whenever I get a routine blood test I have to guzzle water for two days prior so my kidney function test comes back normal. Yes, I cheat; but I can't stand to drink water at other times.

@LindaOHio Water is definitely good for the kidneys. I did not know it until recently that dehydration is a killer for the kidneys. So, I guess it is a good idea to keep on top of staying hydrated. But it is tough.

I don't like the plastic waste either necessarily. But I do recycle all of my bottles. Even when I take my business trips, I come home with them and dump them in the bin. As for water in general I am the same way. I really have to force it down, and so this is one of the ways I make it easier to have more of it.

I' m with you on that. I always like to grab a bottle going out the door and refuse to use public water fountains. For that reason, I like my bottle to go whenever I'm going to be out of the house. I also use my Artic glass which does a great job in keeping things cold for most of the day.

$1.99 for a 24 pack is quite a bargain. I don't remember ever seeing that kinda price here. I do remember Trader Joe's used to sell a single 500 ml bottle for very cheap. But that was many years ago. Not sure about now. I don't usually buy bottled water as we have a Brita filter at home.
