Took a nice hike today. But... / myLot

There's always a butt, and there's always a but. Today, my hiking partner and I took a nice one in the Berkeley hills in Tilden Park. A couple of highlights for me were getting a tom wild turkey to gobble back at me, guiding two cute preschool kids and their dad to some turtles on a log, and sitting near a meadow and watching some cows graze. What's the butt, or but, you ask? Well, I ran out of my best pain meds, and my hips and butt were hurting for most of the hike. We covered five miles. The but? My friend is one who talks a lot and doesn't listen very well. The sounds of nature were mostly drowned by his endless pontificating. But I had a good time.

It really does. And my "Zen" tendencies allow me to enjoy small things, like a child's smile or the wind in the trees.

@DianneN I don't think he noticed. I remember saying things like "Uh huh" an "Could be" as I listened to the birds and squirrels.

Sorry you were in pain on your hike. And your friend talked a lot. Mike and I love to stop and listen when we hike so I understand your pain.

Pretty Hereford heifer you have there. I bet you do not hike with that person too often. At least not if you want to enjoy nature.

Once a week or once every other week. But I've been taking some solo hikes too. I actually prefer those.

I slept well. I'll let you know how my lower back feels once I get moving. I have the day to myself, so I may cycle to Horse Jr.'s old school and take some grounders off of the handball court later.

It is always a trade-off. Agreed some can be a real pain but that could make the hiking a little faster than planned!

You are actually maturing if you could put up with endless pontification and still call it good time. There is hope for you. I am sorry about your medication. Can't you order it online? I would still advise you to check online remedies in homeopathy. My problem is completely resolved because of it. Advantage of homeopathy medication is it has no side effects.
