Spring Fever

I thought I would share this photo I took of one of my Cleveland (Bradford) Pear Trees. I was inspired by @CarolDM recent photo of her neighbor's Pear tree. Despite the name no pears grow on them. I could say they are both males, lol, but actually, these are ornamental trees. A tree admired for it's beautiful leaves not it's fruit.
Anyway, there are many things which signal winter's over and spring is here like more daylight, warmer weather, and the arrival of summer birds. But this Cleveland Pear tree is the first real sign for me that spring time is here for good! And come May my Cherry Blossom tree follows with it's blooms. Yes, seeing spring colors from those awakening flowers, shrubs and trees, is a true wonder of nature and God's gift to us.
Spring is the season of new beginnings. Fresh buds bloom, animals arrive in abundance and the earth seems to be reborn again. Farmers and gardeners plant their seeds and wait for their crops to grow.
It's a time to enjoy before the lazy days of summer arrive to wreck havoc and make maintaining your garden's beauty more difficult. So, enjoy, time to venture out, smell the flowers and soak up the innocence that is Spring.
Question for today: What things signals spring time to you? I'm sure there are many...

I asked Carol if they did bear pears - got my answer . Your tree is beautiful! I have a cherry tree (non-fruit bearing) and it just started blooming. Here, it gets warm right after our non-winter. We have an ash tree that suddenly grows leaves like crazy then, along with all the plant/bloom growth in the area. Actually my neighbor is the avid gardener of our street . . . when I see her working in the front yard, then I know spring has started .

@dgobucks226 I looked at our blooms closer today . . . they are already frying in the sun. But then today it also got colder and for a few more days . . . I don't know how the tree will react. Yah, they are a clean up job when they get to the ground!!
Oh yes, doing your own planting is satisfying!! My dad was a gardener by occupation, but I didn't really get into gardening until last year (thanks pandemic lockdown) - although I've had plants here and there in pots throughout the years.

@much2say Cherry blooms don't last long in my state. A good rainstorm has washed them off the tree in the past. Spring weather can be somewhat unpredictable which I think contributes to the blooms short duration.
I picked up my gardening habit from my Mom. She just loved being out there planting stuff.

Thankyou. Wish those blooms remained through the summer. They add so much to my yard Cherry trees are really beautiful in full bloom. Although they make quite a mess when the flowers fall off
Same in my neighborhood although most of my neighbors have landscapers to do it I prefer planting them myself and watching the finished product. Much more satisfying!

Yes, the flowering looks just like snowballs, lol.
I have a couple of plum trees in my back yard that are supposed to bear fruit. I've seen some berries but still awaiting a real crop to make plum jelly.

Thanks. Absolutely! The birds singing us their specific tunes is a great sign. My yard is full of robins now.
Seeing Kids riding their bikes or playing in the park is another sign of spring time.

@dgobucks226 It is a shame that those flowers only last a few days, the smell is also wonderful.

Beautiful tree. Trees are in bloom everywhere up here right now. The longer days and the warmer temps are my favorite spring things.

@LindaOHio Wow! That's a late snow
I went to college in Ohio (Ohio State) and really enjoyed the spring weather there. You must be located more to the north, right?

Yes, and no more snow, ha ha. Being able to open the windows again and enjoying a light breeze to air out your house is another great sign of spring..

Yes, Florida's rainy season. I'm familiar with those having stayed there.
Seeing Kids riding their bikes or playing in the park is another sign of spring time.
I enjoy doing my gardening during spring time. Of course it's not as warm as Florida that time of year, lol.

Hmmmm, spring .......... well considering that my elm trees usually show their seeds around mid February I'd say that's the first sign. Of course here we only have 2 seesaw seasons and summer. Right now the weather can go anywhere from 50f to 90f or maybe even higher but generally the really cold days are few and far between.

I see. Not very predictable weather for planting flowers and shrubs leading to short life spans. Are there any flowers/plants which do well in El Paso? Do you have any fun things to do when you do get the occasional springtime weather.
Opening the windows again and enjoying a light breeze to air out your house is a sign of spring for me. And of course, spring cleaning, ugh...

Flowers definitely signal spring. Other things in the US which signal springtime are kids riding their bikes or playing at parks. Perfect temperatures, lots more sunshine and people working outside in the garden.
Going out to enjoy nature and and your favorite activities is another spring sign.

Thanks for your nice compliments. The house was originally built in the 1950's as a summer home. It was later added onto. I believe it would be classified as a Colonial style home.
