Good Morning, Every Sunday I go to the market for grocery shopping for 1 week. Today I bought meat, shrimp and some kind of vegetables. I will cook "sayur asem" for lunch, have you ever tried it? "Sayur asam" is a type of cuisine that is well known in my country. It contains all vegetables such as corn, long beans, melinjo, and pumpkin. why is it called "sayur asam", because we add tamarind into it so the taste sour. Asam = Sour Hopefully one day you all can try it

From all veggies soup from Indonesia, I do love this menu. Sayur asem is my favourite. And eat that with fried tempeh, dried fish and spicy sambal. Also eat raw veggies (lalapan). So delicious ??

@slianty ahh yess. Salted fish. Best combination!! Hahhaa.. my fav for sayur asam is shrimp paste sambal (sambal terasi). I don't like the smell much actually but it tastes soooo good.

@redtesha I just finished dinner, but I'm hungry again imagining sayur asem, salted fish and sambel terasi. Today I only made sayur asem, because I was lazy to make sambel terasi ?? Do I have to make sayur asem & sambal terasi tomorrow? LOL

That is Melinjo leaves. I am not sure if there are melinjo leaves in your country, because I can't find the meaning of melinjo in English.

Yes, you have to try to make it, it's not too difficult, just a little hassle because we have to pound the spices.
