Am I a bad friend , should I change my attitude?.

I have asked myself this question a lot of times, this because I have been estranged from very good and dear friends, due to the situation that my country is experiencing, for more than 20 years. The fact is that it is very difficult for me to greet or hug with affection, those friends, who openly and determinedly support the actions of this regime, so much so that they echo the diabolical phrase "Chavez lives", which turns me to the liver . I am one of those who believe in interpersonal differences, freedom of beliefs and all that that differentiates us in terms of ways of thinking and expressing opinions, but in this case I believe that it is not only that. In this case, in my country it is about supporting life or death, supporting the fact that our children have had to go to other countries in order to survive. The fact that many parents die without being able to see their children because they are far away, that many people have lost everything they had, many have died fighting for this country, almost total destruction of our natural resources. In short, there are many things that go beyond a simple difference of points of view. For me the position is life vs death. For all this, when a friend, no matter how dear he may be, sends me a friend request, and on his wall I see a photo of any theme of the "Revolution" I definitely cannot accept it. I'd rather remember him as I knew him before this and wait to see if the wounds can heal when this is over. I cannot bear to hear them defend the indefensible and justify the atrocities committed. So, I have preferred to stay away so as not to fight against them. I love them so much but I really can't. What do you think I'm being a bad friend?

I don't see you as a bad friend. Life is hard right now. These times will pass. I wish the best to you and yours.

In my country the same thing happened when Pinochet was in power. We could not even express our thoughts if we were against Pinochet. You are not a bad friend but maybe you should avoid talking about politics. And if they insist, you must let that friendship go.

@profree2019 I understand. I lost many friends because I could not express my thoughts. And my sister went away and did not return for many years. I lost her children.

@marguicha With good reason you understand then what is happening to us dear friend. However, and that is what irritates me, is that there are many people who have lost their families and continue to support this "government."

Friends should support one another. Unless you have reason to believe the friendship has become toxic. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that's what counts. No one should try and force their views on another.

@profree2019 I understood well enough. DOn't worry about it. Everyone's entitled to an opinion. No one's perfect, and I personally support whoever's in the chair for as long as they are, regardless of politics. I don't have to like it, but I am not going to try and change it.

I agree with you friend Kayla, but as I mentioned in the comment, it is not just a difference of ideas, I am a swashbuckling defender of that right to have free will. In my case, it bothers me to see that people that you love, friends, colleagues, openly support the destruction of a country, a way of life, your lifelong dreams, support the murder of students and people like me He openly expresses his opinion against this government. It is not something like saying I like it more as Obama did, than as Trump did, it is that if either of the two were destroying the country and leading it to ruin and being one of the richest countries in the world would lead to misery, to be part of the third world, all people should disagree. I hope that the translation has not ruined the example that I wanted to show you to explain my case. Thank you for your comment, I think it is a very valuable friend.

I think it is just a misunderstanding. Things will be fine sooner or later.

No you are not. You have your views and do not want to associate with those who have theirs. I feel the same about some things. So I understand this way. Also, we say that like you..it turns your liver, for me, it galls my guts

I don’t think that you are a bad friend. You just want to stay away from what’s going on negatively with your friends.

No, you are sticking to your beliefs and not a bad friend at all. All the more power to you! I feel the same way about Trump supporters and have lost all respect for them.

From what I hear things are happening that are not good and your president is staying in power! The shelves are empty and it's so much instability. If you cannot agree with the support of the government in your country, you are not a bad friend for not being friends with them.

Thank you, friend Danna, I am not friends at all with these people who pull the strings in me and I feel terribly bad with those who, being my friends, do not understand what we are going through and still continue to support this government.

Dear Friend, Please never mind but I use to explain the case of Venezuela and Luxembourg in my career councelling sessions. Both countries were once florished with lot of Money. They given many social welfare schemes which are best in their quality. There were free living almost in both the countries. Luxembourg identified the upcoming crisis and shifted the economy to alternative source. The country is still flourishing. Venezuela did not tried to understand the upcoming crisis. Now the Once richest Capital became the most dangerous city in the world. Please plan for a alternative source of income all the time, for you, for your company, for your family.
