Little Gem Magnolia Tree

Some of you may remember the 3-4 ft. tree I got in the mail from the American Arbor Day Foundation last year. I planted it during the fall of 2020 and so far it is doing very well. The cold winter temperatures didn't destroy it and now I am seeing a bit of new growth. I will enjoy watching this little jewel grow over the years. I will have to remember to check their website this year to see what offering they will have this year! Photo Credit: © 2021 Karen Gros, All rights reserved

Such a beautiful tree! I hope it grows into a nice big healthy tree for you! I have a big magnolia tree in my front yard, and it is covered in blooms and flowers right now. Such a beautiful tree.

I bet it is gorgeous when in bloom! You will have to get a shot or two of the blooms! I can't wait to see how different the blooms are on this one. I need to look it up again but my memory recalls a different bloom, smaller and maybe a pinkish color. I hope it has the same magnolia scent to it!

@kareng I can’t really smell my magnolia tree, as the heavy aroma of the Jasmine overpowers all other scents.

I always enjoyed the ones on the grounds at Louisiana's State Capital. Walks on break time when I worked across the street were always enjoyable.

Glad that your little tree survived the winter and is doing well. I never planted a tree before but it will be nice watching it grow. How great that your little tree was free and that the American Arbor Day Foundation does such a thing.

Yes! I am so glad that 3 day hard freeze didn't kill it. I didn't even think of covering it up!
