I am also an MT. I trained and had a year and a half experience. Right now I am looking for a home transcription job.
I've been searching the net for legitimate jobs but I couldn't find any that doesn't require you to train with them or buy their software and stuff like that.
I'll be checking on your thread to see if something helpful pops up. I also opened up a topic very similar to this but nothing so far.
Good luck to us!

I realize this is a little late in the conversation, but have you tried any transcription companies in your area? Unless you live rurally you should be able to find a company that is semi-close you could apply to. Just a thought. I've been an MT for about 10 years, and I just turned down a job at Spheris because they want me to put a $300 deposit on a new computer that has exactly the same stuff on it that I already have on my home computer - and they want me to train on their system for 2 weeks for hourly pay. Good luck in finding something!

Try Applying for accreditation with AAMT or the American Association of Medical Transcriptionists. You will pay a certain amount i believe and you will have to pass the examination for accreditation that they will give you. after that you will become a member of the AAMT. they will assist you in finding clients from the US. so you will be earning in dollars for your home based transcription job. or email your resume' to larry04b@yahoo.com

That is a good question. I also wonder the same thing. It seems that most companies want 2-5 years of experience, but where do you get that experience? Medivoxx is a good company to do editing through, but it doesn't count toward your actual transcription experience.

I am a medical transcriptionist. I am from Kerala a state in India. There are lots of companies and firms that are providing home transcription. Sprylance, Focus, Accusis, etc are some of the leading medical transcription companies in India. The problem with these companies are the accuracy level demanding by these companies are very high. There are also lots of other nonreputed companies, which are providing home transcription, which does not demand huge accuracies.

I am working as a medical transcriptionist for the past four years. I am from India. There are lots of companies which provide home medical transcription like Sprylance, Acusis, Focus, etc in India. I believe you are from America. Try to find home transcription from there because the rate is much higher in America than in India. How many years have you been working in medical transcription?.I

How is the course going for you? Were you able to find work after certification. I know that in our area they require you to work a certain number of office hours before you can work from home. Keep me posted.

I'm still enrolled in Medical Claims Billing online classes, but decided to stop after finding that you need to have a least two years experience and also have to have computer experience with there Medical Claims Billing software which wasn't taught to me in this school. I might go to a regular college and get my computer skills, but I wish the online school would teach these programs. Good luck to you.
